Non-Playoff Leagues
Markus: Was anything done for these?
Namely two things: 1. Automatic addition of extra game(s) for ties 2. League winner recognized as League Champion same as for Play-off leagues. Thanks Last edited by Bluenoser; 01-28-2014 at 04:49 PM. |

Bluenoser, thanks for bringing this up and I really hope you get this fixed. The last time this worked properly was 6.5. Just curious, when playing without playoffs, has the problem ever been fixed caused by two teams finishing the season tied for second place? I gave up on this method of play, but last time I tried, an extra game would be scheduled to break the tie for second place. Funny, that we can get a 1 game playoff for second place, but the tie for 1st, NOPE. I think the introduction of wildcards is what hurt no playoff leagues.

I've always had to watch closely when the season is almost over. If there's a chance of a tie I manually add a game to the schedule. If the tie doesn't happen I just delete it. You're right, if OOTP can schedule an extra game(s) for ties in "Playoff" Leagues, it should be able to do the same for non-playoff leagues. I still play a non-playoff league occasionally, but it's a bit of a PITA. If you forget to watch for the possible tie, it messes things up. I also write my own news article for the League Champions, but wish OOTP would recognize this automatically. League history doesn't reflect it properly either. Keeping my hopes up this will be addressed. _ Last edited by Bluenoser; 01-28-2014 at 04:49 PM. |

To cover all the real-world options that leagues have had, ideally you'd be able to choose from the following:
(1) Hold a tie-breaking playoff game; the winner of which is declared the league champion. (2) Use non-game tie-breaking methods (e.g. head-to-head record) to resolve the tie; the winner is declared the league champion. (3) No tie-breaking is done and the tied teams are declared co-champions. |

I love and think it is hysterical that the solution to a tie in a non-playoff format is a playoff.
All in all, no playoffs is totally a neat feature and should be supported. |

I use the term "play-off" so it's easier to understand what's trying to be resolved here. |

I've always wondered why disable playoffs was even offered if the game can't support doing so?
