Help me decide

My current random debut league is two months into the 1903 season. Started the league in 1901 and I have the league set to 1980 stats.

Here's what I'm trying to decide and would love your opinions.

Part of me says to continue using 1980 each and every season.

Another part of me wants to use 1982 for the 1904 season, 1983 for 1905, 1984 for 1906, 1985 for 1907 and 1986 for 1908. I would then use a random number generator to decide what season between 1980 and 1986 I would use for the 1909 season. 1981 would be excluded from the choices and if the number generator selects it, I would get personal choice on what season to use. If the generator picks 1982 for the 1909 season then 1983 would be used for the 1910 season, 1984 for the 1911 and so on till I use 1986 again. Then I would bring out the random number generator again.

I'm also debating whether I should include the 1978 and 79 seasons. Making the choices 1978-1986, minus 1981?

So, what would you do? Thanks.

I would continue to use 1980, but I think you have already made up your mind

The reason I would stay with 1980 is because it is my favourite year stat wise, and I use it often

I haven't made up my mind yet. I have June, July, August and September, plus he post season to ponder my options.

Which team are you managing? Or do you play in commisioner mode?

Commissioner mode all the way. I simply watch a game a day and since Bluenoser opened my eyes, I've been watching 2 games a day more often than not. One in the AL and one in the NL.

You could use the numbers 1 (1980), 2 (1982) etc through 6 (1986) in the number generator, so that 1981 never has to come up. Or 1 (1978), 4 (1982) etc through 8 (1986) if you choose to stretch it back to 1978. Just a thought. Sounds like you don't want to stick with one year, so I'd go with your rotation of seasons.

Seems to me that 1978 and 1981 were awfully similar. Not sure I understand why you would exclude one but not the other? I like the random idea though, just to spice things up a bit. Throw in a 2019 every couple of decades to generate endless discussion about how the game is being ruined...

81 was strike shortened.

Oh right of course, duh. That'll teach me to only look at rate stats...
