Custom Views
What does everyone use for Custom Views? I've set up a series of Sabermetric driven views that I found from a few hitter/pitcher/fielder Sabermetric articles but I'm always looking for new ideas..

My Hitting = G/PA/H/1B/2B/3B/HR/RBI/R/BB/IBB/HBP/K/GIDP/BA/OBP/SLG/RC/OPS+/wRAA/WAR/SB/CS/BatR/BsR
I like Batting Runs and Base Runs because it denotes whether a player is particularly great offensively or on the base paths. My Pitching = GS/W/L/SV/IP/BF/HRA/BB/K/ERA/OBP/K to BB/R (Brian Kenny Special~!)/CG/FIP/FIP-/ WAR I like the Runs Allowed because it better showcases how a pitcher is by including Unearned Runs. Same for including OBP rather than just ERA as it lets me know if a guy is allowing a lot of hits despite a great FIP or if he's allowing a lot of hits and struggling with walks too. click view, add or create etc [sic] .. for exact syntax check manual, lol... now, once that window pops open, you can select various tabs labeled with various categories of info... should be able to figure it out from there. when done, click okay, then save the view if you like it.
i use a custom view for: 2 views for potential pitching/batting (draft / trade targets etc) 2 more similar views for current ability of batting/pitching (trade targets, FA searching, setting up MiL etc) i could fit batting and pitching in one screen, but i never look at a pool of players in that way, anyway. plus, much easier to read to keep it simple and relevant to the decision at hand. i have various filters that i will apply too.. some specifically for a custom view, even if the filter isn't always in use. i have ratings on, so i don't look at stats much unless they are underperforming. if i did that more, i'd probably set up some custom views for pitching/batting stats, too. i'd avoid the 'conglomerate' stats like ops+/WAR in lieau of k/9 bb/9 etc .. rates that i can compare easily and define the more basic aspects of what is happening. i do like ops+... but... it's better for comparing a career than a single season. it'd be visible but limited use. (war sucks maybe that's an acronym maybe it's not) I make one anytime a behaviour is often enough and causes me to search for the same set of information each time... = perfect for custom view mix/match with filters, too edit: when i get around to it i want to change the default views a bit... e.g. "demand" added to "Default" and removing useless stuff like jersey # Last edited by NoOne; 06-30-2017 at 12:30 PM. |
