Historical sims: any way to get FINAL season rosters with these seasons w/out trades?

Here's the issue: I started a historical 1969 replay. I figured (as with other sim sets, such as Strat or APBA) that only the LATEST rosters would be included in each team). But on my 69 Mets, the roster doesn't include players like Donn Clendenon, who wound up being a vital part of the team. Also, Wayne Garrett is in the minors. Etc.Without going through the travails of making trades,FA signings, etc: how do I get the latest 25-man rosters on a season that I wish to sim?

You know you can enable historical transactions, correct? Then Clendenon would appear on the Mets roster on the proper date. (NOTE: Historical transactions do not include promotions from and demotions to the minor leagues.)

Yes, it's part of the historical setup wizard. At top of the second wizard screen. The one that comes up after you select the season you want start with. You have two options, historical transactions and historical lineups. However, keep in mind that historical transactions and historical lineups are not an option if you're using historical minors.

Ah! that's where my problem lies, I am using "historical minors", so then I am going to assume that with this as you say historical trades/transactions will not take place. that sucks

I want to do a historical replay (career not single season) starting with 1957, but using historical minors. I turned "trading" off so that the AI is not making trades such as Ernie Banks or Roberto Clemente going to some team they never played with. But apparently with using Historical minors, I won't get the AI to keep the rosters as they were in real life.

Will the AI adjust rosters before each season so that at least as the career mode progresses from year to year the "beginning roster" for each new season will accurately reflect the real life roster from that year?

if not, do I need eliminate using the minor leagues, so the the major league roster (actual trades/transactions) happen as they did IRL, with each spring training the teams then also begin the new year with the correct roster?

If you use historical transaction, transactions will occur as they did in real life. This means, trades, players sold, released, signed etc. Players will retire and miss seasons according to history It does not mean players being called up or sent down to minors, injuries etc.

If you want to use historical transaction you can't use historical minors. If you use historical transactions, Brock will be traded to the Cardinals, Carlton to the Phillies etc. Each season the players on your opening day roster will be those that started the season with the team or started the season in their system and played at some point during the season. Rosters will be limited in size to the number of players that appeared that season. It will be up to you/or the AI which players make the 25 man roster. Transactions occur during the season adding or subtracting form you roster.

I guess I will then have to stick with using historical minors, as I have SOM if I want to replay historical seasons without minor leagues. For me the allure of OOTP is the fact you have the minors and thus a more GM immersion --- so if I want a strict historical sim will I'll do this with SOM. This is not a slight against OOTP, as it sells itself as a "GM game" and all that entails, and not strictly has a "Historical sim game" each are very good and each are very enjoyable.

I've got 2 OOTP worlds going right now 1 started in 1983 (GM for Orioles) and currently in 1992 (won the world series 2 times so far 1988 & the most recently finished season 1991)

the other I started in 1957 (again GM of Orioles) with "no trading" in trying to keep it more to real life rosters (which is why I asked about AI updating season rosters as the career sim progresses)
