I am new, sort of
I used to play version 6.5 and 2008 when SI was involved. How different is it now? I want to start a "competing" fictional league that would be what I would really want Major League Baseball to do in my ideal world. Any thoughts on fictional leagues you guys have created? I am interested in hearing about your set up.

Glance through these newsletters to see how the game has grown since 2008: Index of /newsletters
As far as fictional play, I am stuck in a rut of starting with an MLB format, flushing out the real players (release and delete), restocking teams with all fictional players, and setting up an inaugural draft (release and draft). This time (OOTPB 14), I want to go truly fictional. So I will be playing the New York Knights instead of the New York Yankees. They will have pinstriped uniforms and an interlocking NY logo and they will play in Knights Stadium in Bronx, New York. Original, eh?

I play with a $100m salary cap. I use an interleague schedule much like the NFL's where you rotate which divisions you play in the other league each year. I set all ballpark dimensions and fence heights the same. I use the DH in both leagues. I allow draft pick trading. I did away with the rule 5 draft. Funny thing is I moved Houston to the AL West 5 years ago when I first started playing this game. MLB actually imitated my league a few years later lmao.

I play various setups. I have a 16 ML team ABF which most of the teams are fictional like the Chicago Fire with 4 levels of minors. I import a few real players into each years Ammy Draft. i also have a 16 team MLB with real teams and the same basic setup as the ABF. i have another main league where i start with MLB 1999. sim to 2003 and add my custom fictional league. i sign many real ML players to my teams. in 2005 another fictional league comes in and stocks their rosters with players from my league and MLB. Greats like Texeira and Verlander went onto HOF careers in this league.
I also have my new White Sox vs Cubs Quickstart featuring 30 teams total from the history of each. 2 teams are fictional. |
