Trade request but no offers
I have a veteran on my roster nearing the end of his career that isn't in the starting lineup and isn't playing much who has requested to be traded (after the deadline).
I've shopped him around, but no team expressed interest. He is popular locally and a leader on the team. In real life what would happen next is that the player would be released so that he could try to sign for less money with another team. Does OOTP simulate that? In other words, is my team going to take a fan interest or morale hit if I release the guy? |

Anytime you get rid of a guy, either by release, trade, or even free agency, if he is really liked by the fans you can definitely take a fan interest hit.

As an alternative look for players, realistically, who may be available and try a direct trade while offering cash. You may get a bite.
OTOH if he's in the last year of his contract releasing him may be the best.

In real life, management would make it known that the player requested a trade and that one couldn't be made, and that his only chance to play regularly would be to sign with another team. If the team was doing well, which mine is, the fans and players would most likely wish him the best, and there wouldn't be a backlash.
OOTP is more than realistic enough for me anyway. I was just wondering. I could use the roster spot. I'm going to release him. |
