39 years into my random debut historical, I've got my first .400 hitter
I sim everything, so I didn't interfere for better or worse. Still on OOTP16 (bought OOTP17, but prefer OOTP16), but this thread is obviously more active than OOTP16 Historical Simulations, so I'll put it here. Shoeless Joe hit well above .400 in a league where every year is a 1984 stat output. In 1939 the AL average slash line was .258/.319/.382/.701, and as you can see Jackson absolutely annihilated that. Whoa!

Off topic from the original post of the thread, but it's my thread so I'll post it here. The 1939-1940 Free Agent Class in my Random Debut league that's almost 40 OOTP years old now includes: Randy D Johnson, Carl Yastrzemski, Bob Gibson, Kevin Brown (extremely underrated starting pitcher - HoFer in my book), Harmon Killebrew, Eppa Rixey, Frank Tanana (damn good starting pitcher), Chuck Klein, Carl Mays, and Miguel Tejada. That's 10 very good to great to generational players and there are still just 16 teams in MLB at this point. Holy cow!

And a 38 year old Chuck Finley, who was also pretty damn good in his day. Also, a 39 year old Mike Schmidt who wants $47,000 over 3 years. Good luck Mike!

Randy Johnson got 7 years and $277,200 (aav: $39,600) from your Tigers. Yaz is still out there. Bob Gibson got 2 years and $72,400 from the Yankees (aav: $36,200). Kevin Brown got 3 years and $117,000 (aav: $39,000) also from your Tigers. Brown is going into his age 37 season though, so that's quite a steep price for his services. Harmon Killebrew is still out there. Eppa Rixey's still out there. Frank Tanana's still out there. Chuck Klein's still out there. Carl Mays got a 1 year deal for $9,100, but he's headed into his age 37 season and is coming off a torn rotator cuff injury. Miguel Tejada went with the Yankees for 4 years and $117,800 (aav: $29,450).
