Newbie Question About Player Ratings
So I'm fairly new to the game, and am still learning how everything works.
I'm in my 2nd season of a standard game, and came across an issue I didn't quite understand. I shopped around a player to be traded, and received numerous offers. I decided to make a trade for a LF who, showing on the trade screen, had 4 stars for potential (according to my scout). However after I made the trade, it showed my scout was now only giving him one star for potential. I'm just curious as to why this is. Thanks in advance for any replies! |

scouting inaccuracy.
the the scout might be wrong... so, you may not have a dud.... but you might have a dud, also. time will tell. TCR (random talenc change) is less likely, but maybe "since" the last scouting report?? no way to decipher this from inaccurate scouting or aging with no track record. if young (rookie to short a experience OR 18-19ish) i'd definitely give it time. if it's a mlb vet, well i doubt a scout could be that wrong, but scouting is more accurate with older/more established players -- excluding all other factors. obviosuly the various scouting budgets can further influence that situation... in this situation i'd consider aging too, if ~30. tip: trading when it's been a long period of time since the last scouting report can be a bit risky. you can ask scouting director to look into things before any trade.
