Budgets
Hey guys,
Running into a budget problem on my fictional league. I am about 20 years into existence and the budgets between the top teams and the bottom teams continues to grow at a fast rate. I would like to get them to balance out, but whats the best way to do that? I was thinking about increasing the revenue sharing (set at 31% right now). Also, thought that changing the setting so the entire revenue is available as your budget. |

Look at the teams media contracts. This is probably where you will see a huge difference.
Also check ticket prices and attendance, you should see some diference here too. A simple way to keep the top and bottom closer is to keep media (local and national) contracts the same or close. Then the difference is attendance, merchandise and playoff revenue. There can still be a decent gap when market size, fan loyalty and fan interest fill a stadium with high ticket prices. It will not be a huge difference though. You will have to do a little offseason work to keep it in line. I am in a 20 team fictional online league and we manage our finances globally like this. We have an $80 mil salary cap (out of game) that we do not increase, we keep the money handled at the league level so teams have money and if they win they can easily pay their bills. While if they lose or sign a horrible contract or 2 they can save the money to protect themselves.
