A fictional league in a fictional country
I have created a major league based on a fictional country named Lingalie. This country is supposed to be extremely fond of baseball, and the level of the league should be on pair with MLB.
The league is simply named Linga Baseball League (LBL). It has two minor leagues : AAA-level Linga Future League (l-league) and AA-level Rookie League (r-league). I started in year 1960 with only 4 teams. As I write this topic, the league has been expanded twice. First to 8 teams in 1969. And then 2 additional teams has been added in 1975. For now I have simulated 17 seasons that I will sum up below. I plan to expand the league until reaching at least 24 teams. In addition to this, I also created a tournament named International Championship Series (ICS) in 1967 which oppose the winner of the LBL to the winner of the WS in a Best of 7 serie. First, let me introduce the country : Lingalie is a country divided into 17 states, and populated by approximatively 125M people (as in 2019). The states in alphabetical order (with a small description) : - Boubi County (BC) : Located in North-West of Lingalie, this state is one of the most populated state. Its capital city, Boubi Town is especially one of the biggest of the country (with more than 3M people). It is also the biggest state in surface area. Baseball is very popular here, and Boubi Town received two LBL franchises in the first expansion. Teams : Boubi Town Jade Tigers(LBL), Boubi Town Silver Eagles (LBL), N'Boubi Specials (l-league) - Bouldgalie (BDG) : Bouldgalie is supposed to be a state where mountains and valleys are prominent. Therefore, not a lot of people live in this south-located state. It is however very popular accross for vacation, especially in the winter, as the best country ski stations are in Bouldgalie. The capital named Stonegap has yet to host a baseball franchise. Teams : Oshu'gun Lumberjacks (r-league) - Cap Azur (CAP) : One of people's favorite place to go in vacation, due to its numerous beaches. Cap Azur is located in the east of Lingalie. At the moment, only one minor team is located in Cap Azur, in the capital city of Narballo precisely. Volleyball is the dominant sport in Narballo. Teams : Narballo Gators (r-league) - Central Oasis (CO) : A state that is quite populated. Its capital Lutia is habited by more than 700k people. However, due to its proximity with Lingalie City, no franchise has established in this state at the moment as their franchises are very beloved in CO. Lutia is well known to be the "tech" capital of the country, having many tech companies established there. Teams : None - Golden District (GLD) : Situated in the west, the golden district is very populated. Huangjia is its capital, and is home to the biggest Chinese community. No doubt that a major team will be established in Huangjia. Teams :Huangjia Wizards (r-league) - Green District (GRD) : The most famous south-located state for LBL fans. Everybody is fond of baseball here. Three teams are established in the state, including one in the capital Woodbury, playing in LBL. Despite being a smaller market than the north cities, Green District is clearly the state among the south ones that does the best, economically speaking. Teams : Green District Expendables (LBL), Drimm Land Woodies (l-league), Emerald Jewels (l-league) - Hessie (HES) : No franchise is established here due to its proximity with Green District. Moreover, the state is one of the poorest state of Lingalie, even it is evolving quickly, and handball is more popular than baseball. Teams : None - the Hinterlands (HIN): Near Hessie and Green District, the Hinterlands is quite big. Handball is also really popular here. Therefore only an AA team is established in this state. With Hessie, these two states are the home of a flourishing German community. Teams : Blaum Turtles (r-league) - Linga Bay (LB) : A rich coastal state, where three teams are present. Its capital, Anslos is the biggest coastal city in the country and home to a LBL team. Fishing, tourism and even mining (in Dawala) are the main sectors of activities. Teams : Linga Bay Sea Stars (LBL), Dawala Diamonds (LBL), Pampa Bay Fishermen (r-league) - Lingalia (LGA) : This state take its name from the city Lingalia, 2nd biggest city in the country. However, due to the popularity of football (or soccer) here, no LBL team is present for now. Indeed, the two biggest football clubs are based in Lingalia. No doubt this state should host a team soon though, due to its potential large market. Teams : Galia Suns (r-league), Lingalia Mammoths (r-league) - Lingalie North (LGN) : The most industrial state and one of the most populated state. Baseball and basketball (especially in Rising) are quite the thing here. Its capital, Kuronga is the 3rd biggest city and was the home of the country industries. Nowadays, it has managed to host many big companies to sustain its economy. Teams : Lingalie North Black&Yellow (LBL), Leafay Androids (l-league) - Lingalie West (LGW) : The state typically people would forget about, because it is located between bigger, more popular states like BC & GLD. Its biggest city, Maykrafth however is home to more than 800k people and currently host a l-league. Teams : Maykrafth Iron Wolves (l-league) - the Midvalleys (MID) : A really big state. However, except for the capital, Orange, not a lot of its area is habited. Indeed, it is mostly large vegetation or valley area. The Midvalleys is also the biggest state in the agriculture sector. Teams : Orange Maple Leaves (LBL), Orange Challengers (r-league) - New Lingalie (NL) : The state of the capital of the country and the most populated one, Lingalie City. It is also by far, the richest state, and is the economic center of the country. With three LBL teams, this is the most represented city at the highest level of baseball for this reason. Teams : Lingalie City Nang Nius (LBL), Lingalie City Freros (LBL), Lingalie City Baseball (LBL), La Croisée Bullets (l-league), Creugré Mocking Birds (r-league) - Scarlet Falls (SCF) : Located next to Bouldgalie, this state has many beautiful landscapes. However, not many people live here because there is not so much activity, though, more and more people fleeing the big cities choose to settle here, therefore only one minor team is present here. Teams : Zappir Phoenix (l-league) - Strangleronce (STR) : A coastal state which is also known for its famous jungle that covers more than 60% of the state. Its economy quickly rose with tourism and proximity to the center. The capital Briggs compete with Anslos for the title of best beach among youngsters. Teams : Briggs Bucaneers (l-league), Vertecolline Junglers (r-league) - Wayt County (WC) : Surrounded by New Lingalie and Lingalia, Wayt County is also a very populated state. Wayt County is also known as being a state very popular for retirees and seniors. The two most popular AAA teams are established in this state. Teams : Wayt County Bobcats (l-league), Wayt Tides Thunders (l-league) The Lingalie Baseball League The four original teams are the following : Lingalie City Nang Nius (LNN) All time average : .661 LBL titles / playoffs : 5 / 16 Division titles : 13 Linga Baseball Series participation : 11 ICS titles / participation : 0 / 0 Stadium : Meteorite Park / Capacity : 36200 Teams affiliated : (AAA) Wayt Tides Thunders / (AA) Vertecolline Junglers The most popular team that have the biggest budget of the league. Despite never missing playoffs since 1961, their last title dated from 1965. Therefore, the Nang Nius never participated in ICS. Lingalie City Freros (FRE) All time average : .442
LBL titles / playoffs : 1 / 5 Stadium : Freros&Co Stadium / Capacity : 30521Linga Baseball Series participation : 2 Division titles : 1 ICS titles / participation : 0 / 0 Teams affiliated : (AAA) Wayt County Bobcats / (AA) Oshu'gun Lumberjacks Winning franchise of the inaugural season, the Freros has yet to win another title. Rival of the Nang Nius and despite its bad performances, the Freros has manage to recruit top players. Lingalie North Black & Yellow (B&Y) All time average : .658 LBL titles / playoffs : 9 / 16 Teams affiliated : (AAA) La Croisée Bullets / (AA) Galia SunsLinga Baseball Series participation : 15 Division titles : 11 ICS titles / participation : 7 / 8 Stadium : Lingalie North Dome / Capacity : 28362 The most successful franchise in both LBL and ICS. It possess the record of winning 6 consecutive titles between 1970 and 1975. They also have never missed the playoffs since 1961.They have only been defeated by the California Angels in 1974 in ICS. Green District Expendables (GRE) All time average : .490 As a small market team, this team had to waited until the first expansion to win its first LBL title in 1969. They have never won a single division title in their history, all their participation to the Linga Baseball Series come from Wild Card. In their only participation in the ICS, they got swept by the Detroit Tigers.LBL titles / playoffs : 1 / 8 Stadium : South Lands Park / Capacity : 19700Linga Baseball Series participation : 5 Division titles : 0 ICS titles / participation : 0 / 1 Teams affiliated : (AAA) Drimm Land Woodies / (AA) Blaum Turtles Last edited by Bliketa; 03-11-2022 at 05:24 AM. Now let me introduce the first teams that came with the first expansion in 1969 :
Linga Bay Sea Stars (SST) All time average : .344 LBL titles / playoffs : 0 / 0 Linga Baseball Series participation : 0 Division titles : 0 ICS titles / participation : 0 / 0 Stadium : Linga Bay Park / Capacity : 20650 Teams affiliated : (AAA) Briggs Bucaneers / (AA) Pampa Bay Fishermen The most unsuccessful team, they have yet to achieve a winning record. However, its minor league system is one of the best, their AAA team, the Briggs Bucaneers, has won 3 titles. Therefore, if their prospects are able to adapt to the LBL, this team could pretend to title contention. Boubi Town Jade Tigers (JDT) All time average : .476 LBL titles / playoffs : 1 / 2 Linga Baseball Series participation : 1 Division titles : 0 ICS titles / participation : 1 / 1 Stadium : Jade Park / Capacity : 21800 Teams affiliated : (AAA) Leafay Androids / (AA) Narballo Gators The most recent winner of the Linga Baseball Series and the only one not from the 4 original franchises. They were able to achieve this with clever FA signing and prospects growing. They also won ICS vs the Mets in their first participation. Boubi Town Silver Eagles (SEAG) All time average : .395 LBL titles / playoffs : 0 / 0 Linga Baseball Series participation : 0 Division titles : 0 ICS titles / participation : 0 / 0 Stadium : Los Pollos Hermanos Stadium / Capacity : 26800 Teams affiliated : (AAA) Maykrafth Iron Wolves / (AA) Lingalia Mammoths The rival franchise from the Jade Tigers, based on the same city of Boubi Town. They have yet to appear in postseason. However, their last season was the first time, a winning record was achieve, so the future should be brighter for the Silver Eagles. Dawala Diamonds All time average : .494 LBL titles / playoffs : 0 / 3 Linga Baseball Series participation : 0 Division titles : 0 ICS titles / participation : 0 / 0 Stadium : Dawala Gem / Capacity : 14853 Teams affiliated : (AAA) Emerald Jewels / (AA) Orange Challengers The first post-expansion team to figure in postseason and the one with the most postseason appearances is a small-market team based in the Linga Bay state. They are looking for their first playoffs series win. They are on a current streak a 4 year with winning record. Last edited by Bliketa; 10-27-2019 at 07:10 AM. |

And to end with the franchise in the LBL, here are the two added in the latest expansion. They have only competed in two seasons so far.
Lingalie City Baseball (CITY) All time average : .392 LBL titles / playoffs : 0 / 0 Linga Baseball Series participation : 0 Division titles : 0 ICS titles / participation : 0 / 0 Stadium : National Baseball Dome / Capacity : 31200 Teams affiliated : (AAA) N'Boubi Specials / (AA) Creugré Mocking Birds The third team based in Lingalie City. It is owned by a successful businessman who aims to quickly establish his franchise. But his plans should take longer from what he expected. Orange Maple Leaves All time average : .304 LBL titles / playoffs : 0 / 0 Linga Baseball Series participation : 0 Division titles : 0 ICS titles / participation : 0 / 0 Stadium : MDV Park / Capacity : 21683 Teams affiliated : (AAA) Zappir Phoenix / (AA) Huanjia Wizards As opposed to City owner, the Maple Leaves owner is much more patient and willing to build his franchise farm system before contending to title. This is the second franchise located in the South, after the Expendables, therefore a rivalry has started between these two franchises. Last edited by Bliketa; 10-27-2019 at 07:12 AM. |

The League Structure The league is, at the moment, divided into two divisions : the Moon Division and the Sun Division. Here are the latest standings, from the 1976 season. Every team plays 120 games, facing 20 times the other teams of the same division and 8 times the teams in the other division. The winner of each division advance to postseason. They are accompanied by the runner-up of each division (not the two teams with the best record). Then in postseason, each winner of a division faces the runner-up of the other division, so the tree would look like : (All series are best of 7 series) Winner Moon Division Winner of Series 1 Vs Runner-up Sun Division Winner of Linga Baseball Series Vs Winner Sun Division Vs Runner-up Moon Division Winner of Series 2 Here are the list of the Linga Baseball Series through the years : Last edited by Bliketa; 10-27-2019 at 07:03 AM. |

Links with the MLB :
The International Championship Series (ICS) The ICS is an annual competition regrouping the winner of the WS and the winner of the LBS in a best-of-7 series. It was created in 1967, and every year the location switch between the US and Lingalie. Here is the list of the teams that have participated in ICS : The Black & Yellow possess the most consecutive victories with 4 and the most overall titles with 7.
Two teams for each league has won the title. The Detroit Tigers is the MLB team with the most appearances with 3 for one title. |

And now the AA-level league named Rookie league (r-league).
Players aged older than 27 can't not participate in this league. The same restriction applies to players with more than 6 years of pro service. These rules is to keep the r-league for young players not fully developed. The same structure as LBL or l-league is used here : 4 teams advance to playoffs (first and second of each division) in the Garlic Series (GS). Then winners of the GS meet in the Onion Series (OS), aiming to be crown the r-league champions. The 4 original teams : Oshu'gun Lumberjacks All time average : .559 r-league titles / playoffs : 1 / 11 Onion Series participation : 7 Division titles : 8 Stadium : Nagrand Field / Capacity : 3548 Teams affiliated : (LBL) Lingalie City Freros / (AAA) Wayt County Bobcats As their AAA affiliated team, the Bobcats, the Lumberjacks struggle with postseason despite dominating in season. They got only one title out of 11 playoffs and 7 Onion Series participation and 8 division titles. Vertecolline Junglers All time average : .479 r-league titles / playoffs : 7 / 11 Onion Series participation : 9 Division titles : 2 Stadium : Brann Park / Capacity : 4053 Teams affiliated : (LBL) Lingalie City Nang Nius / (AAA) Wayt Tides Thunders The Junglers are rarely dominant in season, however you can count on them in postseason. They have the most titles with 7 in 9 OS appearances, but with only 2 division titles. Blaum Turtles All time average : .516r-league titles / playoffs : 3 / 7 Onion Series participation : 7 Division titles : 5 Stadium : Blaum Central Stadium / Capacity : 7994 Teams affiliated : (LBL) Green District Expendables / (AAA) Drimm Land Woodies They were the only team of the 4 original teams to not have won a Onion Series before expansion, losing two times 4-3 to the Junglers. Since then, they have established as a strong team, participating in playoffs between 1969 and 1973. They have not participate in the playoffs since 1973. Galia Suns All time average : .512 r-league titles / playoffs : 4 / 7 Onion Series participation : 6 Division titles : 2 Stadium : Triple Extreme Stadium / Capacity : 5844 Teams affiliated : (LBL) Lingalie North Black & Yellow / (AAA) La Croisée Bullets Before expansion, the Suns were either really bad, with a worst record of .139 in 1961, or genious, winning two titles and completely dominating the league in 1968. They participate to playoffs between 1970 and 1974, with memorable confrontations to the Turtles. |

They have miss the playoffs in 1976, but will try to come back in the years to come. Lingalia Mammoths All time average : .405 r-league titles / playoffs : 0 / 2 Onion Series participation : 1 Division titles : 2 Stadium : Waves Ballpark / Capacity : 10324 Teams affiliated : (LBL) Boubi Town Silver Eagles / (AAA) Maykrafth Iron Wolves The Mammoths have been through really bad seasons, with records of .078 in 1972 (winning only 5 games in this season) or .188 in 1970 and 1973. However, they have bounce back from these dark times, capturing two division titles and playing in the Onion Series of 1976. Pampa Bay Fishermen All time average : .486 r-league titles / playoffs : 0 / 3 Onion Series participation : 0 Division titles : 2 Stadium : Fantasy Stadium / Capacity : 8452 Teams affiliated : (LBL) Linga Bay Sea Stars / (AAA) Briggs Bucaneers The Fishermen have made a really good start of their history, winning two division titles in their first three years. But they have been struggling to enjoy postseason baseball. Hey everyone, it has been a while since I posted but I had not nor the time nor the motivation in the past month to continue this thread.
Still, I have carried on the sim, until 1995 now, so I have a couples of years in advance. But now I will try to a little more to this topic, even though OOTP21 is out, and they may not a lot of people coming through this anymore. I will write some yearly recap and see how it goes then. Anyway, I will start this comeback by posting the map I designed for my country. It is very basic though, but with this it is possible to vizualise the cities' location, especially the ones that host a team in 1976. The initial of the states are marked in bold blue. And here is the list of all the cities I have imagined for now with their population : Last edited by Bliketa; 06-27-2020 at 03:59 PM. |

Then let start with the 1977 season ! Unfortunately, I did not take any screens so I have to retrieve stats on my own, thats is why I will focus more on the outcome of each season
1977 Season :
Of course, the Black & Yellows want to win their title back. They have been dominating the league for the last decade and aim to be the first franchise to win 10 titles ever. Their 3B Jerry Hernandez, last season winner of the MVP Award, will try to recidive its numbers from last year .297/.401/.611/ 7.8 WAR / and it also achieve the highest number of HR in one season with 44 in 120 games. Another big team in the recent years is the Expendables from Green District which has participated in 4 LBS since the first expansion. The franchise has recently welcomed Bo Naylor from the Freros. Despite being the most regular catcher in the recent year, he has not won any title, therefore, at 35, that may be one of his last chance. The Nang Nius, another historical franchise, also aims to win their 6th title. For this, they can count on their biggest star RF Lau-Po Thien, who has achieved his best season so far last year with a .346/.471/555/7.2 WAR line. Another possible contender was the Diamonds, which has participated in playoffs twice before. Their closer is one of the best in the league, Amsalu Leake has managed to secure 35 saves and a era of 1.02 in 1976. Finally, the champion Jade Tigers would like to prove that last year was not a miracle and to confirm their new status of big franchise. Their star player RF Miguel Camacho (.285/.450/.487 in 1976) will try to lead again his teammates into the playoffs.
Moon Division The Green District Expendables won their first division title ever with only 4 more wins than the Nang Nius. The three other franchises have been really bad, the Maple Leaves finishing with only 29 victories over 120 games. The Sun division has been much more competitive, the Sea Stars and the Silver Eagles had to play a decisive game to decide which franchise will go into the playoffs. The SEAG won the right to take part in their first play-offs ever. They was accompanied by the B&Y, the franchise that hold the best record this season, with .742 AVG.
In the first round, the Expendables defeat the Silver Eagles, while in the other matchup, the two historical franchises deliver a close battle where the B&Y end up winner. They are the favorites against the GRE in the Linga Baseball Series. The GRE surprisingly won their 2nd title, beating for the first time in their history the B&Y in play-offs ! Matt Hessling, 27 yo 1B, had been astronomical in the playoffs, winning both Semi-Final Series and LBS Series MVP. GRE leaders Guan-Pei Chio and Quintin Treveylan were already there in 1969 and they successfully guided their team to another consecration. Here are the leaders in the victorious GRE team :
