Skydog for President!!!!!!!!

I downloaded your quickstart yesterday. I love it. I can't wait to see how Mr Pagen ends his career. The logos are great. I especially love the one for the San Diego franchise. Wow, what a great league. Again thanks for all your work.

PS---if you ever do another quickstart==give some love to the Midwest. I would love to see a team from Michigan.

It is am amazing job and I love it too.
I've mainly played in on-line leagues, but I'm strating to try some solo stuff and I love his quick start.
I have time at the moment because one on-line league is borked at the moment because of commissioner hardware problems and another has somehow got the league file screwed up.

You won't regret it. Great quickstart game.

It might be great but I can't get it to load. Keep getting a "DATABASE::load_database - could not load world file" error. I've tried downloading it twice and same error each time.

That's where I got it. Like I said, I can't get it to load. Hopefully there's somewhere else I can download it from.

It's worth downloading for sure.

Skydog should make this an add-on that you can download in-game!

If I had the knowledge and/or patience needed to do that, I would.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I've just finished 2015 in my own NABA career, and having a blast. I created an expansion team in 2001, and after 15 seasons, I have four playoff appearances, one World Series appearance, and no titles. Pretty solid degree of difficulty, I'd say.

I didn't think to equalize the markets before starting. I think I got lucky and just happened to hit a "sweet spot" with my expansion team's market size and whatnot: we can manage a payroll big enough to be competitive, but not big enough to build a monster.

For those who want a major challenge, I'd suggest taking over the San Diego Sunshine. They may have a great logo, but their market situation sucks. In the 40 years of history the league now has, the AI-run Sunshine have zero playoff appearances, only four 2nd-place finishes, and seven seasons over .500. The Sunshine's max payroll in those 40 years has been $62.4M, and averages $42.4M.

Sounds like a great quick-start. I just wish I could get it to load.

Hmmm. I think the Hagerstown Suns might have a problem with that.

Well, I got around the database error by just copying all the .dat files from the quick-start into the .lg folder.

I've got one more question, though. The default team logos are all the generic, OOTP generated ones. Are there supposed to be ones that come with the quick-start?

Is that a real teams logo? Pretty cool.

If there a a lot of us using this quickstart, it would be interesting to compare individual players down the road. Skydog said he is all the way up to 2015, I find myself wondering how my young players developed in his league. I play out all my teams games so it is slow going. I took over the Louisiana team. I have them in 1st entering June 2001. Lawrence Smith is my ace, he is 8-0 so far.

Smith got signed by the other expansion team in the 2000-2001 offseason in my league.

As far as Louisiana, you'd better win with them. They AI won the Western Circuit four straight times from 2001-2004 with them, and two titles. They haven't finished worse than fourth in the EC Southwest in the last 15 years. They have a big payroll (over 100M most years) compared to the rest of the league.

I'm sorry - I did not mean to be coy. I meant that I just got done poking a bit of gentle fun at SkyDog (or at whomever is his logo source) over the similarity of the "great logo" he was talking about and that of a real minor league team. Yes, there are some nice fictional logos included in the quickstart and you should have gotten them but perhaps your workaround is preventing that from happening.

I got the logos from a link somewhere on this board to a whole bunch of logos. Not sure exactly where. Basically, I came up with a nickname that fit the locale, and tried to find a logo that matched it. If there was no logo on the site I used, I used another nickname. I then used PAINT.net to pull the RGB values from the logos so that the in-game colors and unis would match the logos. Sunshine was my first thought for San Diego. Seemed to make sense.
