Cubs trounce soon-to-be bankrupt Mets in Game 1

Dempster looks sharp as Cubs beat Mets 11-1 - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

That's a surprisingly good result for the North Siders...

Big Z sends Cubs to 9-3 win over Mets - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

I have mixed emotions... an injury to one of the game's two knuckleballers is kinda sad... but... that also means he may need a rehab start in my hometown ballpark! And I haven't seen him yet! And I have four tickets that are exchangable for any future game! ... Stars are aligning... maybe...

Couldn't avoid a sweep by the Astros though. Found a good article that I had to share; pretty much sums up the Cubs season.

End of first half-inning at the Cell: After the top of the first inning of the first Cubs-Sox game at U.S. Cellular Field in 2009, Cubs manager Lou Piniella and outfielder Milton Bradley got into a heated argument in the dugout, resulting in Piniella calling Bradley a "piece of (expletive)." After the top of the first of the first Cubs-Sox game at the Cell in 2010, Zambrano got into a heated yelling match with first baseman Derrek Lee, resulting in a team suspension and anger management counseling. What's next on June 20?

You know what really stinks? I was looking for a new challenge in fantasy baseball and there was this 20-team league who had the Cubs as an open team, and you have to keep a minimum of 15 Cubs on your active roster.

I signed up and have managed to stay over .500 in a head-to-head style league. ... ... Until this week. I am down 1 to 11, mostly because we are in the midst of a 5 game losing streak, we're not scoring any runs, and the DL is jammed pack with my best offensive players.

Unfortunately, as the Cubs go, I go. Bummer.

Ramirez, Castro rally Cubs past Brewers 5-4 in 10 - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

So the Cubbies have four wins in June... and two of them (the last two, in fact) are by Jeff Samardzija.

... Methinks that's a bad sign.

What? Oh yeah... Go. Cubs. Go. ... Go. Cubs. Go. ... Hey. Chicago. What. Do. You. ... Zzzzzzz.

Two tough losses, indeed

And that after sweeping the Cardinals over the week-end at Miller Park.

But then, the Brewers from Miller Park are very different from the Brewers on the road.

So the BP Cup stands at 1 game a piece...both good games even with Ozzie's punting ability lacking.
Hoping Paulie can hit a HR in 5 consecutive games for the Sox record.

Wait, what? Two walk-offs in a row against the defending champs? What's that you say? The Cubs actually have a pulse?

It's nice to see a couple of W's, but I still think the only thing saving them from not ending up at the bottom of the division are the hapless Houston Astros.
