Changing Positions in Perfect Team?
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, I did a bit of looking and couldn't find it.
Is it possible to change a player's position in Perfect Team? I've experienced the variety of results you can get from doing this in the ordinary mode, but I don't know what to expect in PT21. I just got the Rockies collection and the 2011 Tulo, but I already have Corey Seager and Manny Machado. I want to move Seager to 2B, but I'm not sure if he'll have his 2B rating reset every season or whether he'd take to it at all. Advice? Thanks |

Fielding experience gets reset when you exit the entry pool, but otherwise it will stick between seasons. You may experience some growing pains as the player learns the new position, but shifting guys around to other spots is a common tactic.

1. Experience gained in the Entry Pool is wiped back to zero when you are promoted to Rookie for your first real season. It persists from that point on. 2. Experience only applies to season play, not tournaments. Tournaments are always played with “mint condition” versions of cards, without training. Or, you know, what Matt said.

Wait a minute- are my players going to age?
Like if I have a one-hit wonder will he fall apart? Or furthermore, should I be avoiding veterans and prioritizing pre-prime players? |

No. Gaining position experience is the *only* way in which cards change. They can’t lose experience if they stop playing a position, either.

Or with Ichiro his CF is 102 his RF is 121 If you put him in LF during a tournament, what is his LF defense rating?

Tournament cards have none of their experience at new positions, as if you just pulled a new one out of a pack. If the card doesn’t have a rating at a position from the start, the rating there in tournaments is zero.

In league games players slowly increase their defensive capabilities the more you play them based on their natural abilities. In tourneys, the card rating are what they are, period. How that helps clear it up.

Both the 102 and 121 numbers are arrived at by an equation that includes positional experience. Even though the equation for his LF rating relies upon the same underlying Range, Error, and Arm values, (for lack of a more concise way to describe it) it is multiplied by 0 positional experience.

Shortstops can train anywhere in the infield. I currently haved Ozzie as defensive backup for every position.
Optionally, you can use any (right-handed) defensive wizard for that purpose. I've trained Rath, Hansen, Honus Wagner and several others at least partially at one or two other IF positions. Things you do when the early packs feed you shortstop-rich. Last edited by Lemandria; 04-20-2020 at 12:45 PM. |

Hey Matt, did something change in respect to OOTP 20 with trained positions? My Ozzie Smith lost all his training since last season (he was in my reserves roster and AH most of the season)

If they still don't get it back, I know we used to see cases where players lose the training if they are auctioned and returned while league files are being created, but I haven't seen many reports of that you of late. |
