I will run some tests today just to be sure it's safe to use for everyone, ha ha ha.]
So how did the test go? It is difficult to see the puck so I used the NHL labeled puck from another thread and haven't see any statistical anomalies in 10 games.

Here are the reversed color in case anyone would like to use yellow at home instead of purple:
Fantastic! Very well done.

Yeah, it seems ok. I ran 10 exhibition games between the same two teams. The bigger puck averaged 5.2 goals per game, and the original puck averaged 5.9 goals per game. Not a huge difference. In terms of general gameplay, the bigger puck went out of play more often but that might be my imagination . Other than that, I didn't notice anything out of ordinary.

One more request if possible for the mid-1990s. Could you please create the Anaheim Mighty Ducks? Again, thank you so much for your contributions....I greatly enjoy using these

Here you go I am not sure if Mighty Ducks of Anaheim can work in the game as a name, so I still used Anaheim Ducks in the file name. Change it to whatever your own game is set at:

Anaheim Ducks 90s

I'm 100% sure the used graphics make no difference in any way for the results made by the game engine.

How to locate file??

To use the mods for a specific saved game, just locate the saved game folder and unzip the files into "graphics/rink_pics".

Just purchased FHM8 and trying to follow the above directions. Once I am in x86, I get to FHM8, then there are about 8 folders, none of which say "saved game" or "graphics/rink_pics". Can anyone provide another explanation?

Also, If I wanted to add rink enhancements from thefaceoff.net, where would those images be placed? Thank You!

You're probably looking in Steam Files and not My Documents, but the easiest way to find it is:

Start the Game.
Click on Settings.
Click on Troubleshooting.
Open Customizable Data Folder.
Then put them into Saved_Games or Quickstarts.

I've been using this mod for quite a while now and am totally enjoying how much it adds to the game.

Everything has worked flawlessly, until today, when I noticed the St. Louis goalie and player icons are not loading. (Must be the first time I've simmed the Blues in the 2D engine).

Anyway, I checked the filename syntax and everything looked good, so I downloaded Adam B's new 2D mascot mod and noticed his St. Louis icons are named differently than these.

If you look at Adam's, you'll see he uses a double underscore between the 'st' and the 'louis'.

So the four icons from this mod, (which won't load for me), all have a single underscore. For example:

goalie_st_louis_home.png

Whereas Adam's are:

goalie_st__louis_home.png

So I renamed Flying_Canuck's icons with the double underscore and now they're working fine. Just a heads up, and thanks again for a great mod!

I can't figure what in **** name I am doing wrong (my download came from fastspring by the way). I have all the individual icons (skaters) showing up in a download folder (256 of them I think), and I even tried to copy past them into either one or both saved_games or quickstart and when I restart the game and try and exhibition game, I still get all the damn squares!!

In fact, when I go into the game and click into each folder (quickstart & saved_games), there is a folder inside each of those named NHL_2D_Icons_V2, which has all the skaters for all teams, but it's not being picked up bythe game??

That might be the problem. The icons should be in the graphics/rink_pics folder. You don't need separate folder NHL_2D_Icons_V2. Just move all the files to rink_pics.

Yes, I learned about St. Louis' naming convention a while back, ha ha. In fact, that should have been corrected when I released the big ZIP file. Let me check again if I somehow overlooked it.

Cool... It came as news to me, but glad you're aware of it and on top of things.

Hi do you have any of the basic skater/goalie templates that I can use? I plan on creating models for the other teams that were used in the historical mode (Seattle, Portland, Victoria, Quebec Bulldogs, the WHA teams etc.).

Hey guys, it's been a while since I last worked on these. Really tied up with work lately.

I can certainly clean up my files and release a template. But with FHM9 so close, it's probably a better idea to see if any graphics have changed. Probably in the coming weeks I'll be checking in to see what can be done (ice, icons....etc).
