In the top of the second, the Americans loaded the bases with two out. But Parent flew to right to retire the side.

In the bottom of the third, the Orioles loaded the bases with two out. But Williams flew to left to end the inning.

After three: Boston 0 Baltimore 0.

In the top of the fourth, Ferris scored from third on a passed ball to break the scoreless tie. The Americans went on to load the bases with one out. Freeman flew to left for the second out without bringing home a run. Schreckengost then singled to center to score Stahl from third. However, on the play, Brodie threw Parent out at home as he tried to score from second to retire the side.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Orioles loaded the bases with one out and the pitcher Yerkes delivered a run-scoring single to put them on the board. McGraw then beat out the 6-4-3 attempt to bring in the tying run.

After six: Boston 2 Baltimore 2.

In the top of the seventh, the Americans loaded the bases with one out. Dowd put the Americans back in front with an RBI single. Ferris followed with an infield single to put the Americans back up by two. Young flew to left for the second out without bringing home a run. Stahl then grounded to third to retire the side.

In the top of the eighth, Parent scored from first on a Collins single combined with a Seymour errant throw to third. The Americans went on to load the bases with nobody out. Hemphill got a run-scoring single but, on the play, Brodie threw Freeman out at home as he tried to score from second. An infield single reloaded the bases with one out. Ferris brought a run in with a sacrifice fly. A two-out triple by Young brought home two more to complete the five-run inning.

In the top of the ninth, Bill Karns took the mound for the Orioles.

In the bottom of the ninth, Williams got an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

The two teams combined for 34 hits in the contest and the Orioles also committed three errors.

Final score: Boston 9 Baltimore 3.

Today is the second game in the season-opening series in Baltimore between the Orioles and the Boston Americans. Yesterday, the Americans scored five runs in the 8th inning to pull away to a win.

In the bottom of the third, Donlin injured his foot while leading off with a triple but he stayed in the game. Donlin went on to score on a Williams sacrifice fly.

Parent led off the top of the fourth with an inside-the-park home run.

In the bottom of the fourth, Brodie got a two-out RBI single.

In the top of the fifth, while trying to steal third, Dowd scored on a Bresnahan throwing error. Winter got a run-scoring single.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Orioles loaded the bases with one out. A two-run single by Keister increased the Orioles lead.

After six: Baltimore 7 Boston 3.

In the top of the eighth, Collins scored from first on a Freeman two-out single combined with a Brodie throwing error to third.

In the top of the ninth, with runners at first and second and two out, Stahl grounded to short to end the game.

The two teams combined for 23 hits and 11 errors in the contest.

Bresnahan got an email with a sacrifice fly. An RBI single by Howell followed as the Orioles batted around the order in the first inning of the game.

In the bottom of the third, an RBI single by Bresnahan increased the Orioles lead.

In the top of the fourth, Schreckengost came up big with an RBI triple. Hemphill followed with an RBI single.

In the top of the fifth, Collins got a two-out RBI single to make it a one-run game.

After six: Baltimore 5 Boston 4.

In the top of the seventh, the Americans tied it up thanks to an RBI single by Collins. The Americans went on to load the bases with nobody out. Hemphill brought home all three with a triple. With a runner on third and nobody out, Crazy Schmit took the mound for the Orioles. Dowd hit an inside-the-park home run to blow the game wide open. After giving up that home run, Schmit struck out the side.

In the top of the eighth, Freeman got a run-scoring infield single. Schreckengost picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the ninth, Bill Karns took the mound for the Orioles. Stahl padded his stats with an RBI single. In the top of the second, the Orioles loaded the bases with nobody out. Hart tied the game with a sacrifice fly. The Orioles reloaded the bases with two out. Brodie put the Orioles in the lead with a run-scoring single but Bresnahan was thrown out at home by Dungan trying to score from second to retire the side.

Today is the second game in the series in Philadelphia between the Orioles and the Athletics. The Orioles committed three errors in the eighth inning to blow a 5-2 lead in the first game of the series.

The Orioles placed SP Harry Howell on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 2.

Boston Beaneaters 3B Arlie Latham announced he will retire at the end of the season.
