No problem Javier, I also took control of his corner. I decided to do this with some of my favorites (Marvin Johnson, Alexis Arguello and so on) figured I'd start here. Helps keep my interest. He should fight again soon He isn't scheduled for May but he has a high % chance of fighting in June.

OWEN MORAN UPSETS TERRIBLE TERRY FOR THE BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE
May 31, 1904
#1 contender Owen Moran (12-1-1) scored a stunning TKO6 over champ Terry McGovern (16-3) to take the LBA Bantamweight title that McGovern had held since November of 1902. The fight started out like all other McGovern title defenses with Terry dominating the fight. He scored over 20 punch points in each of the first 3 rounds culminating in Moran's right eye beginning to swell shut after the 3rd. Moran seemed desperate in the 4th and it worked for him as he slipped punches and won the round. Then one minute into the 5th he dropped McGovern with a straight right. McGovern bounced back up but seemed hurt. Moran took advantaged battering Terry and swelling Terry's left eye. McGovern was dropped again to start the 6th and Moran swarmed him until Terry was helpless on the ropes and referee Frank Cappacino had no choice but to stop it. On the undercard WW - Jimmy Gardner UD10 Harry Lewis WW - Dixie Kid DRAW10 Al Neill MW - Harris Martin MD10 Frank Glover LW - Dave Holly DRAW6 Billy Frazier (Holly fought as a beginner in this club bout) BW - JOhnny Reagan TKO5 Danny Dougherty |

MCCAFFREY LETS TITLE SLIP AWAY
June 2nd, 1904
Jack Johnson (16-1) won for the second time over # Dominic McCaffrey (8-5-3) with a UD15. But it was alot closer than last time. There was alot of back and forth in this fight with neither fighter winning 3 straight rounds. McCaffrey was bleeding from the nose from round 7 on. Dom's big chance came during the 12th round when Johnson's left eye began to swell shut. It was bad enough that stoppage was imminent. But McCaffrey didn't press in the 13 or 14th, and Johnson stayed to the outside. Mccaffrey won the 15th but it wasn't enough. I had it 144-141. Tom Trunzo at ringside had it 143-142. The official judges saw it 143-142/147-139/144-142. It was Johnson's 5th defense. On the undercard LHW - Gunner Moir SD10 Chris Pearson WW - Rube Ferns UD10 Otto Sieloff (Sieloff drops to club) HW - Denver Ed Martin TKO5 Peter Felix LW - Jewey Cooke UD6 Mike Cushing (Cooke still a beginner in this club fight) BW - Frankie Neal UD10 Patsy Haley (club fight) |

RYAN GOES DOWN BUT DEFENDS TITLE - - HERRERA UPDATE
June 18, 1904
Tommy Ryan (18-0) won his 4th title defense against #6 Willie Lewis (7-6) with a KO8. Ryan looked sluggish and the fight was back and forth abit through 5 rounds. With Ryan winning the 6th, Lewis landed a straight right late in the round and Ryan took a knee for a 2 count. It was the first time Ryan has been down in his career. The knockdown seemed to wake him up though. He dropped Lewis in the opening seconds of round 7 and then punished him the rest of the round. Then he put Lewis down for good in the 8th. I had the fight 68-64 at the time of the KO. Tom Trunzo, ringside, had it 66-65. The official judges had it 67-64/67-65/69-63. All in favor of Ryan on the undercard FW - Aurelio Herrera UD10 Kid Herman Landfield (Herrera went to 2-0, controlled the whole fight with 4 KD's but once again couldn't finnish off his opponent. Scored 99-89/97-91/97-91) HW - James Corbett TKO5 John Knifton LHW - John Donaldson MD10 Patsy Cardiff HW - Jack Stelzner UD10 Dan Hickey (club fight) LW - Jimmy Mitchell DRAW10 Billy Edwards (club fight) |

FITZSIMMONS PICKS HIMSELF UP OFF THE CANVAS AND PUNISHES CRAIG
July 07, 1904
Bob Fitzsimmons (16-0) survived a first round knockdown then systematically destroyed Frank Craig (15-6-1) over the next 14 rounds for a UD in his 7th middleweight title defense. Fitz took a nine count from a vicious body shot in the opening minute of the first round. He managed to survive Craig's attempt to end it and hung on until the end of the round. Craig then paid the price for pissing Fitz off. Craig got a broken nose in the 4th, a cut over his right eye in the 5th, knocked down in the 8th, swollen left eye in the 8th, knocked down in the 12th, and knocked down again in the 15th. It seemed as though Fitz could've ended it anytime he wanted to but wanted to punish Craig instead. I had it scored 145-136. Danny Wildhawke at ringside had it 145-137. The official judges had it 146-136/144-137/146-136 on the undercard MW - Hugo Kelly UD10 Al Greenfield WW - Rube Ferns UD10 Frank Solomon LW - Jimmy Carroll UD10 Billy Barrett (Barrett stepped up to LW for this fight and stepped down to club after) HW - William Schiller UD6 James McCoy (Schiller is a beginner in this club fight) WW - Otto Sieloff KO2 Matty Matthews (Matthews always gets to within one win of .500 and moving up then gets beat in spectacular fashion) |

ATTELL TAKES BACK FW CROWN
July 31st, 1904
Abe Attell (16-4-1) scored a UD15 over Billy Whistler (3-5-1) to retake the FW crown he lost 11-30-1903. Attell dominated the entire fight. Whistler's right eye started to swell shut in the 9th and he was dropped in the 14th. I had it a shutout at 150-134. Jim Trunzo ringside had it 148-136. The official judges had it 150-134/149-135/149-135. On the undercard LHW - John Donaldson UD10 Jack Sullivan HW - Sam McVey TKO6 Charlie McDonald HW - Nick Burley UD6 Jack Scales (Burley moves to pre-prime with a 4-1 record) LW - Dave Holly TKO 6 Charles McCarthy ( Holly fought as a beginner in this club fight) BW - Digger Stanley UD10 Patsy Haley |

ROOT TAKES BACK TITLE
August 18, 1904
Jack Root (17-4) took back the title he lost 4 months prior with a UD15 over champ Leo Houck (6-2-1). It would appear the two would be set for a rubber match. Although both sides are mum at the moment. This fight wasn't as close as the first. Root dropped Houck to one knee in the first and kept up the pressure most of the fight. Houck swarmed Root in the 5th after Root dropped back to the ropes after an uppercut landed flush. Root's right eye began to swell after that round but cut man Chick Ferrera, did a great job and kept the swelling to a minimum the rest of the way. I had it 144-140. Harry Otty, ringside, had it 143-141. The official judges had it 144-140/143-141/146-139. On the undercard WW - Mike Sullivan TKO7 Austin Gibbons ( Gibbons stepped up to Welter for the loss) HW - Bob Armstrong UD10 Frank Childs MW - Frank Klaus UD6 Geoffrey Thorne (Klaus a beginner in this club fight) HW - James Dalton MD10 Mike Sheehan (club fight) WW - Billy Devine KO4 Owen Ziegler |

HERRERRA GETS FIRST SOLID VICTORY
August 28, 1904
Aurelio Herrera (3-0) score a MD10 over Young Corbett (9-5-3) in his first tough contest. Corbett dominated the early rounds then was knocked down in the 7th. Many at ringside felt he held on for the win but in the end Herrera out scored him in the final 3 rounds. I actually had Herrera losing 95-96. Markus, at ringside, had it 98-93. The official judges had it 97-93/95-95/96-94. |

Herrera Suffers First Set Back
October 20, 1904
Aurelio Herrera (3-1) suffered a 4th round TKO against Jem Driscoll. Herrera lost the first 3 rounds and must have gotten a thumb in the eye in the 3rd. I say that because his eye swelled up so bad after the 3rd, that the fight was stopped immediately at the beginning of the 4th. He was only a 3-2 underdog going into the fight so he may of had a chance had the fight not been stopped. |

Owen Moran Wins First Defense
October 27th, 1904
Owen Moran (13-1-1) scored a 7th round TKO over #5 Casper Leon (8-7-3) for his first defense of his LBA Bantamweight title. It was a close fight that saw Moran get knocked down for the first time in his career in the 2nd round. Leon kept the pressure on through the first 5 rounds. Moran turned it on in the 6th and had Leon on the ropes when the bell sounded. The 7th picked up where the 6th left off and Moran waled away on the defenseless Leon until the ref stepped in with 4 seconds left in the round. Leon to his credit never went down. I had it 55-57 at the time of the stoppage. Mark Moe ringside had it 58-58. The judges had it 56-57/56-57/57-58. On the undercard MW - George LaBlance UD10 Mike Donovan LHW - Jim Hall TKO1 Charlie O' Donnell (Hall stepping up to LHW for the win) HW - Nick Burley KO1 Con Coughlin (Burley Pre-prime in this club fight) LW - Dave Holly DRAW Solly Smith (Smith stepped up in weight for this club fight) BW - Patsy Haley UD10 Frankie Neil (club fight) |

Root Defends Title
November 10, 1904
Jack Root (18-4) won a UD15 over #7 Duncan McDonald (6-8-1) for his first defense since regaining the title. Root fought McDonald back in December of 1902 and won a lopsided decision then. This bout was no different. Root dominated from the start. He suffered a cut under his left eye in the second but it was quickly stopped. It was a slow and boring fight with the crowd booing throughout. I had Root winning 147-138. Walt Arnold at ringside had it 145-140. The official judges had it 148-137/144-141/149-137. On the undercard LHW - Gunner Moir UD10 Dick Sandall (Sandall stepping up to LHW for the loss) MW - Billy Baker UD10 Harris Martin HW - Joe Goss UD6 Joe Godfrery (Goss fought as a beginner in this club fight) MW - Paddy Purtell UD6 Bill Slavin (Purtell fought as a beginner in this club fight) MW - Frank Glover KO10 WC McLellan (club fight) |

Gans Makes 7th Defense
November 15th, 1904
Joe Gans (16-1-1) won a UD15 over #3 George Lavigne (14-5-1) to defend his LBA Lightweight title for the 7th time. Lavigne rocked Gans in the second and dropped him for a 6 count, but Gans regained his composure and dominated the rest of the fight. Lavigne was cut under the right eye in the 7th but no other real damage. Gans, by my count, won the last 5 rounds to win on my card 146-139. Jaret Morgan ringside watched a different fight scoring it 142-142. The official judges had it 143-141/145-139/143-141. On the undercard BW - Billy Plimmer DRAW Watty Austin WW - Willie Lewis KO5 Frank Solomon HW - Jack Munroe KO2 Gunner White (Munroe stepped up to HW for this club fight win) MW - Dick O' Brien KO3 Otto Sieloff (Sieloff stepped up to MW for this loss) LW - Billy Edwards UD10 Mike Daly |

Attell Wins Snoozefest Over Griffo
November 25, 1904
Abe Attell (17-4-1) won a UD15 over #1 Young Griffo (15-4-2) for his 1st title defense since retaking the crown. Attell dominated defensively from the start and won easily. His game plan worked and he never gave into the boos that wanted him to mix it up. Griffo suffered a slight cut over his right eye in the 3rd, but other than that both fighters looked none the worse for wear after the fight. I had it 146-141. Dan Cuoco, ringside, had it 145-141. The official judges had it 144-141/145-140/147-141. On the undercard MW - Hugo Kelly UD10 John P. Johnson Cruises In 6th Title Defense
December 2, 1904
Jack Johnson (17-1) destroyed #1 John C. Heenan (11-3-1) stopping him with a 6th round TKO. Heenan never went down but was throughly beaten when the ref stopped the fight. Heenan had a cut under his right eye in the first, which resulted in the right eye swelling. His cut man was unable to keep the swelling down and the eye got worse each round. Finally in the 6th the ring doctor stopped the fight after a nasty cut over Heenan's left eye was opened. Johnson had won the first 5 rounds on all scorecards. On the undercard HW - Denver Ed Martin SD10 Jack Sullivan (Sullivan stepping up to HW for the loss) WW - Jack Bennett UD10 Scaldy Bill Quinn HW - Jim Flynn TKO7 Charles Lange (Flynn goes 10-0 on the club circuit and moves up, debuts at 8th on the LBA rankings) HW - Mike Sheehan UD6 Bill Lang (Lang fought as a beginner in this club fight) LW - Mike Cushing TKO5 Charles McCarthy (club fight) |

Fitzsimmons Might Be Unbeatable
December 24, 1904
Bob Fitzsimmons (17-0) destroyed the #1 contender Joe Butler (17-3) with a 10th round TKO. Many felt that Butler would be the one to give Fitz a run for their money. "Many" were sadly mistaken. Fitz took control of the bout early and dominated the fight. He swelled up Butler's right eye in the 4th. Knocked him down in the 5th. Cut him and swelled up his left eye in the 6th. Knocked him down twice in the 8th. Knocked him down again in the 9th. In the corner between the 9th and the 10th. Butler pleaded with the ring doctor to let him go back out. The Dr. let him but then stopped it one minute in when Butler got hit 6 straight times. Fitz commented after the fight that he had nothing left to prove and would explore a jump to LHW. On the undercard FW - George Dixon KO10 Jimmy Briggs (Dixon stepping up to FW for the bout) HW - Dominic McCaffrey UD10 Charles Hadley LHW - John Donaldson UD10 Dan Dwyer LW - Dave Holly UD6 Kid Farmer (club fight) FW - Eddie Santry UD10 Patsy Haley (Haley stepped up to FW for this club fight) |
