Today is Opening Day.

The Superbas begin their season with four games in five days in against the Phillies with the first game in Philadelphia, the second game in Brooklyn and the last two back in Philadelphia.

In the top of the eighth, the Superbas loaded the bases with one out. Keeler drew a walk on a full count pitch to bring home a run. Sheckard followed with an infield single to tie the game. Daly was hit by a pitch to give the Superbas the lead. Kelley made it a five-run inning with a 2-run single.

In the bottom of the eighth, Doc McJames took the mound for the Superbas.

In the top of the ninth, White struck out the side.

In the top of the first, McCreery threw Thomas out at home as he tried to score from third on a Flick flyout.

In the bottom of the first, Keeler delivered an RBI double. Keeler went on to score from third on a Daly double. Kelley followed with a run-scoring single. McCreery added a two-out run-scoring single.

In the bottom of the second, Sheckard brought home two with a triple. Sheckard then scored on a Daly triple. With a runner on third and one out, Nick Altrock took the mound for the Phillies. Kelley greeted him with a run-scoring single. A pair of walks loaded the bases with one out. Farrell flew to right for the second out without bringing home a run. Kitson then grounded to first to end the inning.

In the top of the third, Delahanty put the Phillies on the board with a two-out RBI double. Delahanty went on to score on a Flick triple. McFarland brought Flick home with a single.

After three: Brooklyn 8 Philadelphia 3.

In the bottom of the fourth, McCreery knocked in a run with a two-out triple. The pitcher, Kitson, got an RBI single.

In the top of the fifth, while attempting to steal third, Slagle ended up scoring on a bad throw by Farrell. McFarland added a two-out run-scoring triple. A Cross single scored McFarland.

In the bottom of the fifth, a two-out run-scoring double by Dahlen extended the lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, Fred Klobedanz took the mound for the Phillies.

After six: Brooklyn 11 Philadelphia 6.

In the top of the seventh, the Phillies loaded the bases with two out. But Cross flew to center to retire the side.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Superbas loaded the bases with two out. But Farrell popped up to first to end the inning.

The two teams combined for 30 hits in the contest.

The season-opening series between the Brooklyn Superbas and the Philadelphia Phillies returns to Philadelphia. The first game was in Philadelphia. The second game was in Brooklyn. Today's game is in Philadelphia and then there will be a day off before the final game of this series again in Phillies. That's about some Rob Manfred Logic there!

In the top of the fourth, Dahlen brought the go-ahead run home with a double. Dahlen went on to score from third when Wolverton flubbed a two-out grounder by Hughes. Davis followed with an RBI single.

After six: Brooklyn 4 Philadelphia 1.

In the top of the seventh, Daly scored from second when Dahlen singled with two out and then Thomas gaffed trying to field it. An intentional walk loaded the bases with two out then Farrell picked up an RBI with an infield single. Hughes then flew to right to retire the side.

In the bottom of the seventh, Wolverton got an RBI triple. Wolverton then scored when Dahlen couldn't make the catch on a Dolan line drive.

In the top of the eighth, Red Donahue took the mound for the Phillies.

The Superbas totaled 13 hits to get the win while the Phillies committed three errors.

Final score: Brooklyn 6 Philadelphia 3.

In the top of the first, the Superbas loaded the bases with two out. Sheckard scored on a wild pitch.

In the top of the second, Davis brought home two with a triple. Keeler brought Davis home with a single. With runners at first and second and two out, Kelley hit his 138th career triple, placing him 16th in MLB history, bringing home two more runs for the Superbas. Dahlen knocked Kelley in with a single.

In the bottom of the second, Dolan got a two-out RBI single to put the Phillies on the board. Thomas got an RBI single of his own.

After three: Brooklyn 7 Philadelphia 2.

In the top of the fourth, Kelley hit an RBI double. With a runner on second and nobody out, Al Orth took the mound for the Phillies. Kelley went on to score from third when Cross muffed a Kennedy two-out grounder. Davis followed with an RBI single.

In the top of the fifth, McCreery delivered a two-out RBI single. Farrell followed with an RBI single as well.

In the bottom of the fifth, McFarland got an RBI single.

In the top of the sixth, Dolan's foot was injured when Keeler broke up a double play but he stayed in the game.

After six: Brooklyn 12 Philadelphia 3.

In the top of the seventh, Kelley scored from third when McCreery beat out an infield single. McCreery was injured on the play and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Frank Gatins. A Farrell single scored a run. Davis got an RBI with a sacrifice fly. Keeler delivered a two-out RBI triple.

In the top of the ninth, Oscar Streit took the mound for the Phillies. The Superbas loaded the bases with one out but Sheckard grounded into the 4-6-3 to retire the side.

The Superbas out hit the Phillies 20-8 in the contest and the Phillies also committed 5 errors.

Final score: Brooklyn 16 Philadelphia 3.

After sweeping the season-opening series against the Phillies, the Superbas will face the New York Giants in a four-game alternating series. The Superbas will host game's 1 and 3 with the Giants hosting game's 2 and 4. The Giants split their season-opening four-game series against the Boston Beaneaters.

The Superbas placed CF Tom McCreery on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 22.

In the top of the fifth, Murphy left the game with an upper body injury. He was replaced by Ray Nelson. A Strang single combined with a Steelman error brought two runs home to give the Giants the lead.

In the bottom of fifth, Davis tied the game with an RBI triple. Davis went on to score from third when Frank Bowerman, playing second base, made a bad throw to first after fielding a Keeler grounder and the Superbas were back in front.

After six: Brooklyn 4 New York 3.

In the top of the seventh, Bernard scored from third on a wild pitch to tie the game once again.

In the bottom of the seventh, a Kelley single scored Keeler from third and the Superbas once again had the lead. Farrell added a two-out run-scoring single.

In the top of the ninth, the Giants loaded the bases with one out. Hickman then unloaded with a 374 foot grand slam to give the Giants the lead once again. Doc McJames took the mound for the Superbas.

In the bottom of the ninth, Roger Denzer took the mound for the Giants. The lead off hitter, Daly, was called out on strikes and then was ejected for throwing his helmet. Denzer retired the next two batters to end the game.

The two teams combined for 24 hits and the Giants also committed 4 errors.

Final score: New York 8 Brooklyn 6.
