SP Josh Spence (24-L), the #2 prospect this Spring, is out with a sore elbow. He's expected to take 3 weeks to mend and when he does, we are going to trade him. It is already his 3rd injury this season and I expect he will not become one of the all-time great Jacksonville Jays. Besides, he is already 24 and did not appear to be ready for the majors when we gave him a shot. I am never thrilled about 24 and 25 year old prospects; I am thrilled by 20 and 21 year old stars! So, he is on the trading block and we will see if anyone makes us an offer (doubtful). If not, we will work out a trade with somebody. Editor's Note: Of the "Shop and Grab a Player at Random" variety. Hopefully, we can get someone decent; but it will be a gamble.

We are back home to play the New Orleans Pelicans a 3 game series over the weekend. They just split a 4 game series at home versus Indianapolis. We lost 3 of 4 in New Orleans, April 19-22. They are 11th in scoring with 3.94 runs per game (Jacksonville is #13 with 3.63). The Pelicans are 8th in fewest runs allowed with 4.02 per game (Jacksonville is #5 with 3.76). Their run differential is -4 and ours is -7. The Birmingham Barons are the only team in the Southern Division that has scored more runs than they have allowed (+40).

New Orleans Pelicans (29-25 .537 2.5 GB in 2nd place in the Southern Division) at
Jacksonville Jays (25-29 .463 6.5 GB in 6th place in the Southern Division)

NO: Gary Flaugher (26-R 6-3 3.20 ERA 78.2 IP, 82 H, 6 HR, 43 BB, 37 SO) vs.
JAX: Eddie Basset (30-R 0-0 7.20 ERA 5 IP, 7 H, 1 HR, 0 BB, 2 SO)

Flaugher gave up 1 run in 7 IP for a win last time out. He gave us 1 unearned run in 8 IP in New Orleans in a no decision.

This will be the 2nd start of the season for Basset.
