.lg file naming question
I was wondering if I go into the saved game folder and rename the .lg file for my current league will the game continue to write over the changed file or will it create a new .lg file? Also, are there any other files I need to rename?
I want to be able to save my current game before installing the new patch just in case. The backup is good but takes far to long. Plus I tend to hit the "finish day" button in error and want an easy way to undo. Thanks Greg |

If you rename the folder your-league.lg to your-league.whatever, OOTP will not find it anymore. You need to make a copy if you want to have a backup. The built in backup is incremental, i.e. it needs some time when you start it first time. Later it will be faster.
To make a "quick" backup outside of OOTP, right-click on your league .lg folder and choose to create a compressed archive (zip, gz, whatever) on another drive. |

If you really, really want to do something quickly, you can create a league for testing purposes by copying just the ".dat" files from within the league folder. I freqently do this when I want to test changes without making a full, time-consuming backup.
Create a folder, call it "LeagueTest.lg" and copy just the dat files into it. Load this league and test away. |
