Swede under contract signed with WHL
I play as Djurgården in SHL, Sweden, when suddenly one of my players decided to sign a WHL contract. Should that even be possible?
-Erik Walli Waltherholm- Jun. 22nd, 2017: NHL drafted Jun. 26th, 2018: CHL drafted Aug. 28th, 2018: Signed two years contract with me Jan. 1st, 2019: Signed two years contract with Medicin Hat Tigers I had a contract with him, even though I know that Sweden have a release clause to NHL. But not to any other american organisations I believe. Is it a bug or normal? |

I'm sure Jeff will correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I do believe players can transfer to the Canadian Hockey League at any time. It doesn't happen often, but it can occur.

It happened to me in the KHL too. It can happen, there are a few Russians who moved midway through the season (German Rubtsov, Maxim Kitsyn a few years ago)
