IF California leaves....what happens to sports teams?
Self explanatory in the title.....IF, a big IF it happened, for conversation's sake...
What would happen to the sports teams?? Would they be relabeled as "international" teams?? Again, for conversation, if that happened, it would be interesting to see how things are labeled and re-catagorized. |

what's the difference between an international team and a national team in non-international competition? seriously? pretty much nothing, I'm guessing, except maybe the currency players are paid with. and if NHL/NBA teams in Canada pay players with USD, then the same thing is valid with MLB squads.
also, why is CA being singled out?

I thought they were just trying to divide up the state. Didn't know they were trying to leave the country.

WHen it gets to 45%, then there's something to it. As for not succeeding, they have the 6th largest economy and our population. So they could probably give it a solid go. But that's a WHOLE other argument that's more OTDish. |

Neither the effort to secede from the US, nor the ones to split the state up have a snowball's chance. Both scenarios (which, incidentally, spring from radically different political agendas) would require significant bipartisan support, and the left side of the political spectrum would resist:
- Secession: California's Left might be in favor it, but the rest of the USA's Left would not want to lose the 55 electoral votes. - Splitting up: California's Right might be in favor of it, but the state's politically-dominant Left, plus the rest of the USA would not want to split up Kali's 55 electoral votes to where a significant minority chunk of them would be in play in the new (former Kali) states that are, politically, either conservative or at least competitive. Fun to speculate, though |
