ERROR: 0001: Unable to open screen mode

I clicked OK then got another window:

NVOpenGLPbuffer: ootp2007.exe - Fatal Application Exit
Application was unable to continue

Crash.

XP Pro
nVidia 97.92 on 8800 GTX
What else would you like to know?

Historical league running in full-screen mode and the screensaver came on. This error was there when I exited the screensaver.

Lost a season. This occured during the 1927 World Series. When I restarted and reloaded the game, the date was 1-1-1927.

I'm no expert on this, but I remember a problem running fullscreen and having the taskbar on the bottom - especially on my laptop when the screensaver kicked in.

Just as a troubleshoot - can you run in a windowed mode that's smaller than fullscreen resolution and let it kick out to your screensaver to see if it fails again?

I haven't had a problem with windowed mode and the screensaver.

This would be because that's the last time it saved the league. It only saves once a year by default on Jan 1.

Phenom, do you still have this league, and if so, is this crash repeatable at all?

Do you happen to recall exactly what was happening in the game when the error occurred?

I'm assuming you had FaceGen enabled, right?

Thanks!

I'll try and crash it tonight.

And I'm quite sure I had facegen enabled at the time.

What was happening? I was running a historical sim. I wasn't playing any of the games. Had auto-sim to like 1/1/1930 running.

And it just went POOF after the world series? Were you watching it at the time?

Wasn't watching it. Came back to check on it and it was at the schedule screen, with one of the WS games up on the schedule. Lemme try and replicate.

replicated.

Started OOTP and switched to full screen (2560x1600 is my full screen resolution)

Created a new historical league from 1901 with the latest Lahman, with full facegen, on demand, sepia for all players and coaches.

Everything else, IIRC, was default from the wizard.

Went to the scores & schedule screen and changed the date to 1/1/2001. Clicked on Auto Sim to that date (1/1/2001) and off it went. Got to about 1906 before the screen saver kicked in. I let the screensaver run for a minute or two before I went back, and I got the same error, then a CTD.

Phenom, can I pester you for one more test? If you disable the screensaver, does it run without crashing?

Steve

The only two crashes I had were these with the screensaver, but I'll try it...

tomorrow...

wife will kill me if I run that 2560 with the white background with no screensaver for that long.

No issues with that.

btw, I'm running XP Pro with that click-to-log-in thing that comes up. Not sure if that's from .net framework or what.

Is your screensaver, by any chance, a 3-D screensaver? I wonder if it's trying to utilize OpenGL and freaking OOTP out.

"freaking OOTP out" is, of course, a technical term.

Nope. It's the generic XP one that turns the screen black and blinks the Windows XP logo around the screen.

Does it crash with any other league that you run or is just this historical one?

ERROR 0001 NOT Fixed

Listed twice under Closed or Claimed Fixed. See one instance here:
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...t=screen+saver

This item is NOT fixed, as it happens to me all the time with version 2.02.53. The issue only occurs when playing in full screen mode and the XP screen saver activates. The game cannot recover, giving the error listed in the thread above.

This error is NOT included in the supplemental beta test log of issues and needs to be reopened. I will attempt to create it with the new patch installed.
