I'll vote in favor of expansions when the Rays and As either get better stadium deals nearby or outright move states.

He'll likely do this before Miami/TB/Oakland are situated. Miami's drawing 8500 a game. Move them. Same for TB and either get a stadium in OAK or move to Vegas. |

Both Florida teams need to be folded or relocated. Forget expansion. I vote folding them. The only benefit of having 32 teams is having four divisions and - if baseball is smart (which it's not) - once again having teams that WIN their division in the playoffs. No more wild-crap.
Eliminating interleague play would nice too, but you don't have to expand to get rid of it. They can - and should - just get rid of it. Bonus if they dump the DH, or modify the rule in some way. Plus, I don't get the desire to have a team in Montreal again. It ultimately failed the first time (we can debate reasons why, but ultimately it FAILED) Why do we think it would work the second time? If you want to do anything, move a Florida team there. That way can draw 8500 a night in a new city. And eliminate all adverts on the backstop and outfield walls, just for good measure. With that said I agree that teams in Florida just don't seem to work and I'd be ok with expanding the active roster to 27 to help accommodate the loss of slots of the teams that fold. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

...Is this a traditionalist circlejerk? Anyway, getting back to what LGO said earlier:

Comparing the current schedule structure (with 20 interleague games per team) to a proposed 6-5-5 structure (with 18 interleague games per team), it's easy to theorize such a schedule, but hard to execute it. |

Im starting to warm up to the idea of eliminating divisions or just have 2 and seeding the rest. I know they wont but i dont want to see 100 win wild card team in a 1 game playoff while an 80 win team gets a 5 game series just because their division was crap. IMO if a team can win 95-100 games they deserve more than a 1 game playoff. I may be the only one but i really really hate 1 game playoffs in baseball. I know its been done before but i prefer at least 3 games.

Me neither. Some of you mentioned the possibility of "undeserving" teams making the playoffs. So? Weak teams will be eliminated in the first round...usually. But sometimes, one of those "undeserving" teams will go all the way, and that will be truly exciting. We need more "exciting" in baseball.

Funny that. I always wondered the desire for wanting a team in Washington DC, having three teams that have died there over the last century and change. And its even a smaller market then Montreal. I wonder why Selig and friends thought it would work the fourth time....

Not all of it, I am sure there were some backroom deals or shenanigans.
Wash rates in the top 1/2 of MLB markets. This is about 2 years old. From here: https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/20...ny-many-others

And keep in mind that the White Sox and Athletics both have less than the Nationals' market share IRL, because of being the second team in a two-team market. So the Nats are effectively #10.
(Mets and Angels are also second teams, but I'd still rank them ahead of the Nats.) |
