Today is Opening Day.

The Detroit Tigers will begin the season with a seven game home stand. They begin a four game series today against the Cleveland Naps.

The Tigers signed free agent 3B Cozy A Dolan to a minor league contract.

In the top of the first, the Naps loaded the bases with two out. But Stovall grounded to short to retire the side.

In the bottom of the second, Moriarty put the Tigers on the board with an RBI single. Stanage addeda two out RBI single.

In the top of the third, the Naps again loaded the bases with two out. But Donovan struck out Perring to retire the side.

In the bottom of the third, Delahanty got an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

After three: Detroit 3 Cleveland 0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Bush delivered an RBI double.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Naps committed their third error of the game. The Tigers cashed it in with a Bush RBI single.

After six: Detroit 5 Cleveland 0.

In the top of the seventh, the Naps finally scored thanks to a Stovall sacrifice fly. A two run double by Perring was the Naps 10th hit of the game.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Tigers loaded the bases with one out. Jones grounded into the 4-2 for the second out. Stanage then struck out to end the inning.

In the top of the ninth, Graney hit an RBI single to make it a one run game. The Naps would load the bases with two out. But Lord flew out to center to end the game.

The Naps out hit the Tigers 14-8 but they also committed five errors leading to four unearned rubs.

Final score: Detroit 5 Cleveland 4.

In the top of the first, a two out error brought home the game's first run. Stovall then addeda two run single.

In the bottom of the first, the Tigers loaded the bases with one out. Delahanty went down on strikes for the second out. Moriarty then struck out to end the inning.

In the bottom of the third, Cobb put the Tigers on the board with a run-scoring single. One out later, Delahanty tied the game with a two run double. Stanage gave the Tigers the lead with a two out RBI single. It was the Tigers 10th hit of the game. Works followed with a two run triple. McIntyre finished the scoring with an RBI single. Eleven batters came to the plate with seven of them scoring.

In the top of the fifth, Jackson hit an RBI single.

In the top of the eighth, the Tigers committed their third error of the game. But the Naps would strand two.

In the top of the second, Easterly hit an RBI double. Easterly would go on to score on a throwing error with Graney getting credit for the RBI. The Naps would then load the bases with nobody out. Berger popped up for the first out. Turner then delivered a 2-RBI single. Jackson addeda two run double. Lajoie followed with an RBI single. Eleven batters came to the plate in the inning with seven of them scoring.

After three: Cleveland 7 Detroit 0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Jackson injured his shoulder trying to throw out a runner and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Joe Birmingham. Jones put the Tigers on the board with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the fifth, a Stovall single was the Naps 10th hit of the game. Graney hit an RBI single but the second runner, Stovall, was thrown out at home by Crawford while trying to score from second.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Tigers loaded the bases with nobody out. Cobb walked to bring home a run. Crawford followed with a grand slam.

Ed Willett took the mound for the Tigers in the top of the sixth.

After six: Cleveland 8 Detroit 6.

Ed Killian took the mound for the Tigers in the top of the ninth. Lajoie hit an RBI double. Easterly added an RBI single.

In the bottom of the ninth, with a runner on first and two out, Jack Ryan took the mound for the Naps. He gave up a single before Cobb grounded out to end the game.

The Naps pounded out 14 hits in the win.

In the top of the second, Demmitt put the Browns back in front with an RBI triple.

In the bottom of the second, on a two out double by Stanage, Jones was thrown out home while trying to score from first.

In the top of the third, Donovan struck out the side.

After three: St Louis 2 Detroit 1.

In the bottom of the fourth, with runners at second and third, Delahanty singled to bring home the tying run. However, McCormick threw Crawford out at home as he was trying to score from second. With two out, Jones singled to score Delahanty from second and the Tigers had taken the lead. That was the 10th hit allowed this season by Lake.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Tigers loaded the bases with one out. McIntyre drew a walk to force in a run. Cobb popped into an infield fly rule for the second out. Lake then struck out Crawford to end the inning.

In the bottom of the eighth, Lake struck out Moriarty for his 10th K of the season.

Leading off the top of the ninth, Donovan struck out McCormick for his 10th K of the season. Truesdale and pinch hitter Danny Hoffman both singled. It was the 20th hit allowed by Donovan this season. With runners at the corners and two out, Demmitt tied the game with a two run double. Lake then struck out to retire the side.

After nine: St Louis 4 Detroit 4.

In the top of the tenth, the Browns loaded the bases with one out. Truesdale put the Browns in front with an RBI single. It was the Browns 10th hit of the game. Red Downs grounded into the U2 for the second out. Donovan then hit Stephens with a pitch to force in a run. Bush then mishandled a Demmitt grounder and another run scored. Lake then grounded to third to retire the side.

In the bottom of the tenth, an error allowed McIntyre to score a run. Jones singled for the Tigers 10th hit of the game to load the bases with two out. But Boss Schmidt popped out to right to end the game.

Final score: St Louis 7 Detroit 5 10 innings.

Cleveland Naps CF Shoeless Joe Jackson has a torn rotator cuff and is expected to miss 6 months.

New York Giants 38 year old RF Willie Keeler will retire at the end of the season.

In the bottom of the fourth, a Crawford single put runners at the corners with one out. It was the 10th hit of the season allowed by Waddell. Delahanty then brought Cobb home with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the fifth, the Tigers committed their third error of the game. Demmitt tied the game with a two out, two run single.
