Loss of Draft Pick Due to Compensation?

I am in a league of 16 teams.
I have the #5 overall pick in the ammy draft.
IF I sign a comp eligible player from the FA market, will I lose my #1 pick?
I want to be perfectly clear on the math here.

Thank you. Sorry if this is asked somewhere else.

If you have the 2012 CBA Rules option checked off, I don't believe you will lose that pick, since it's in the top 10 picks of the draft.

The only thing I don't know for sure about is that since you have fewer than the standard MLB, whether or not the game adjusts the number of protected picks.

Either way the No. 5 pick should be a safe bet to keep.

I believe the CBA rules guarantee your Top 10 pick is safe no matter how many compensation-eligible players you sign. It's 11-30 that you'll always give up if you signed an eligible player.
