I purchased OOTP11 when it first came out and printed maybe 60%+ of the manual.

Should I assume that there are enough changes in OOTP13 for me to wade through and reprint some pages or will they pretty much be the same except for the new stuff? Dumb question there.

Guess I'm asking if I should spend a fair amount of time looking for changes in my v11 manual.

Frankly, I'd utilize the online manual for v13. In addition to being, naturally, relative to your current version, utilizing the search function- which is very quick -in tandem with a browser that enables you to enlarge the screen at will, makes for a quicker, easier to find, and easier to read document than the one you'll end up with filling the gaps.

I know you are right, Endgame.

I'm just old and like the print on paper sometimes. : )

I'll browse through the new manual again for key spots.

Have a great rest of the week....

Vesting Options

I recently purchased the game the last weekend of September, so still a little new to the game.

The page in the manual concerning Offering Contracts does not seem to match up with the actual Contract Offer screen in my game.

There is no information that I can find in the manual about Vesting Options. Would really like to know how they work.

There is also no information about the following:

* Bonus for All-Star Selection
* Promised Role (and the consequences of not using the player in that role)
* The "Ask for Response" button

The problem may be that it is the same exact page that was used for the OOTP 11 manual. Could this please be updated to reflect 13? Thanks.

I went looking for that in the manual, but likewise didn't find it. I am pretty sure there are people familiar enough with baseball contracts to explain. Perhaps posting a question in a separate thread would get the answer.

The Bonus for All-Star selection is an amount of bonus money that the player would receive only if he is selected to the all-star team.

The promised role is a promise that is being made to the player that he will be used in a certain role on the team. If the player is not played in the promised role, his performance is likely to drop. How much so is probably dependent on the player, the performance of the team and maybe some other factors.

The "Ask for Response" button is a great new feature that allows the manager to ask the player what he thinks of a potential contract offer before the contract is actually submitted. It allows for quick negotiations before an official offer is submitted. This option is not available for all contract offers. I think it might be available for contract extensions but not offers to free agents.

As part of the beta process for OOTP14 the manual will be updated for new features and we can pick up corrections and additions to the OOTP13 manual at the same time. Please post here any suggested changes or additions to the OOTP13 manual.

Please note where in the manual the change/addition should be made and:
  • in the case of changes, please provide marked-up changes to the current text; and
  • in the case of additions, please provide suggested wording.

I have picked up your points in the OOTP13 manual and OOTP14 draft Yeldarb. Thanks.
