I've mentioned it a couple times, and shortly after getting promoted to perfect, but my Defenders are going through a transition period in my philosophies for them. Since I've been selling pieces off, and want to sell off a couple more to make things work, I can't in good faith, continue in OL with them. It's not in the spirit of the group of good people to have a team that is in the midst of a transition so I'm going to go to a random Perfect League this week. If the transition is done in a week, or two, I'll be back.
I'm going to keep my Kansas Rangers and Missouri Legends in the OL group though. I just don't think a team going through transition and trialing some things should do it in the OL group. I'll happily bring the Defenders back when it's done though, if you'll have me.

The game has no understanding that we are in a friends list league. OL is not formally implemented in the game in any way whatsoever. OL only exists because people compile stats and put together records on these message boards.

That is good to know. I hope to be back soon. The scale is not massive by any means, I just dont think it's fair to the OL group if I'm not putting out my best team because I'm selling some to make some roster moves and stuff. It's not the spirit of the group imo. Happily keeping my Legends and Rangers in OL though.

Steelport swept the Rockin' Robins and are in the gold level series against some poor non-OL team, who I shall put down on behalf of all of us

The Steelport Saints defeat the non-OL Buffalo Short Hops 4 games to 1 to win their 3rd league championship, bringing home another championship for Our League clubs.
World Series MVP is Roberto Clemente, who hit .474 with 4 HR and 7 RBI |

Diamond playoff final:
Congrats to the Minneapolis Gauchos, after a 4 games to 1 victory over Ozark. (personal side note gripe: I think Waffletown's Wilcy Moore just got shafted in the Reliever of the Year award, but could be my home town bias showing as well.... Lee Smith wins with a record of 2-2, 14 saves and a 1.74 era.... Moore finished 3-2, 40 saves, 1.75 era.... ah well.) |

Two quick things - the Southside Sluggers (trevwilson4) have been left out of the Silver league a few times. I will be moving up to gold tomorrow. If you are reading this and are in the gold league, please consider adding me to your friends.
Second, the Mr. T inspired Southside Sluggers narrowly missed a dream matchup with the Crazy Fools in the Silver League championship earlier today. It would have been epic! I pity the Fools for not winning game seven!

Sluggers come up short again. Leading 3-2 and headed for home, they drop back to back tight games to go home as the runners-up for the sixth time in their history! We just can't finish!
On the flip side, my pack only team brought home its second championship after only six years (iron and silver). So who knows!

Not sure how this stuff happens all the time. The Sluggers have been, and still are, on my Friends List. I'm assuming it's a weird bug that, in some cases, doesn't use the Friends List as the first priority in placing teams, which the announcement of it seemed to imply it would. Anyway, my fingers are crossed heading into the final round. "Cut me, Mickey!" |

By the way...
Since playoff trees weren't posted for all OL teams, the All Time standings will have to wait until OOTP posts the playoff results. Short P440 and G328.

I respectfully disagree. For me, at least, an OL crown is the ultimate prize at the end of a season. Even Groucho agrees. |

The Wrap Up
There being no bronze or iron crown to award, here's the finale, albeit a little later than usual. Just wanted to wait, to be certain. Went with a calendar appropriate Harvest Moon theme so I could add a belated tribute to Leon Redbone, who left us at the end of May, at the tender age of 127, according to his whimsical obituary.

and a final note from the non-OL wastelands of Bronze tier....
the O'Fallon Owls brought home a Bronze league championship with a 4 games to 2 victory (Sixto Lezcano series MVP).... adding to the hardware for the season.... leadoff batter Tommy Holmes took the league MVP award and starting pitcher Brandon Webb took home the Pitcher of the Year award. the pack-only group also managed to complete a live collection yesterday, so Dan Haren will be joining the staff for the Silver season |
