Deleted Tournament still has games

I added a tournament to my game that used the teams who are in other leagues. I initially set it up wrong however so I decided to just delete it and start fresh. However it seems even though I deleted the league, its games still remain and are counting towards the correct tournament I set up afterwards. This happened for the first season but I figured it was just going to go away afterwards. I have just hit the next season and those extra games are still there for the teams in the tournament.

Do I have any hope of recovering this and removing the phantom games or will I have to go back and restore the back up?

edit: I am able to manually delete the games this season although I wasnt in the first so maybe they wont appear from now on.
