Guys, just wanted to give you some tips on this type of league. I have been playing in a similar type league with a buddy of mine. We are the only 2 human controlled teams, the other 10 are computer controlled. We also play all of our games, not just the home games. Here are some issues we had to work around:

1.) The home team that plays out their series will have to send the game export files, the box scores, game logs (if used) AND an export of their team ALONG WITH an export of the team that they played against to the commish or whoever is maintaing the master league file. In doing this, watch out that the coaches and scouts don't "disappear" after the game files are imported. This bug was supposedly fixed a couple of patches ago but it was still happening last time I checked. I haven't tried it with the latest patch though. If they do disappear, the commish must then take the exported team files and import them and the coaches/scouts will come back.

2. When playing your home games, the player should also sim all the other games in the league before advancing to the next day on the schedule. If you don't do this, the pitcher fatigue numbers get all out of whack. By simming all the other league games, it forces the "league date" to change to the next day so that the number of pitches thrown are on the right day. Don't worry, the simmed games won't count because you should only be sending the commish YOUR game files and not the game files for the games you simmed.

These were the only real problems, if you want to call them that, that we had. We had a blast and are looking forward to another season. Now if we could only get some time. Good luck!

Hi Buccofan,

Thanks for the tips. I haven't looked at the import/export mechanism yet because we're still drafting coaches and players, but this is really going to help when things get going. I was hoping it would only be a 1 file tranfer for everyone bit it looks like it's more complicated.

It's really not that bad though. For each scheduled day, there will be a "Play/Sim/Import" button on the schedule window. You just click the "Import" button and the computer will find the right file to import. I'm sure after a while you'll be able to do if very quickly.

One thing to note about importing the team files. You have to do this AFTER you have imported all the game files for a particular series. So if there is a 3 game series, you import the game files one day at a time and then go to the team window and import the team file. If you try to do it sooner, it will give you an error. The thing is, even without the coaches disappearing bug, you would have to import the team file anyway to pickup any transactions the team has made (moving players to the DL, minors, etc).

One other thing I didn't mention and you've probably already thought about this. Any trades, FA pickups or contract extensions should be made on the commish's PC. If the individual owners try to make any of these transactions on their own PC's it won't work right.

Man, we should have made a 16 team league instead of 8!

Hey JC,

Yes, there are still 2 clubs left! We are right at the tail end of the coach/scout draft. Your team will have already had all the coaching staff filled in.

I'll send out an invite to the league a little later this afternoon.

You got it!

Man, whoever it was that said "if you build it, they will come" was right. This started out with very little interest and now we're full up. Expansion next year by the looks of it.

Invitation coming in the mail. Player draft will probably be taking place Friday and Saturday.
