Four Mookies for sale!

I'd bid, but I already have my very own Mookie.

I know it's beta, it's late in the season, and there were some pack-opening irregularities or something that I heard about, but there seems to be a repetition of names on the auction list at all times. I would assume that there will be some adjustments to card frequencies as PT goes live.

Actually, on second thought, there are more than 6,500 teams involved, so some player auction repetition may be expected.

Still, I would assume that the four folks who put Mookie up for auction had a duplicate Mookie on the roster already . . .

Maybe if someone isn't making the playoffs they want to see if they can get a quick bite and open 30-40 packs for the fun of it, since they know rosters are being reset. Can't say that I'd blame them either, because I do like opening packs.

I wonder about the frequency of individual players. There are some players that you can find on the auction house all the time and multiple of the same at any given time. Then there are other players I would not even know were in the game if I didn't look at various teams. Either they are so desired they are not making it to the auction block, or there is a difference in frequency due to luck or coding. Hopefully we'll see more of mix as things move along.

I like the rarity, perceived or real, of certain cards.

One thing I have noticed is that the 'Future Legend' cards seem to be quite rare/thought of as each time I've had duplicates of Adonis Medina and Mitch Keller and put them up for auction they sold quite quickly.

Medina I thought I overpaid in week 1 of the beta when I paid 1,900 PP at auction. Then I pulled one in a pack put a buy now price of 2,500 on it and he was snapped up within an hour.

Personally, I'd rather sell Mookie for like 25-30k, and use that money to buy, say, a Judge card for 5k and have an extra 20k to spend on another legend. Whereas if I had a Ruth card, I think I'd hold on to it for dear life. So to me, even if there were the same number of Betts as Ruth cards out there, I would expect more Betts cards in the auction house.

I can say comfortably that I did not have a Mookie Betts already, but 1) Betts couldn't crack my lineup in my lefty-friendly park (my other OF were Bonds, Yelich, Duke Snider and Yaz, so it's not like I had chumps) and 2) I generally find Perfect present players to be both worse and go for more on the auction house than high Diamond historical players (Newhouser > Sale, Bonds > Betts, etc) so I generally sell Perfect modern players and buy packs with them.

I definitely agree on that post-beta. The ability to do something impulsive and open a lot of packs is fun, but wouldn't do that if rosters weren't being reset. I wouldn't hesitate at all selling Mookie and spreading the money around on a couple players. I don't think I could bring myself to sell Ruth, or some other historical players if I had them.

Heck, last night I sold off anything of value to open up some packs, yet couldn't bring myself to sell Mattingly, even if it was only the silver one, and I knew I'd be losing him anyway. I guess it's the unexpected allure of collecting certain cards that brings back good memories, either of collecting cards or watching players play.

Had a good laugh this morning after the first sim ran and I was able to spend 1,000 pp (not the initial 1,000 we started with) for another pack and got a repeat Curtis Granderson. Went into the Auction House to put it up and there were already six Curtis Granderson's on sale

It's okay. We still got… eh... Juan Lagares. As long as he doesn't break another toe running into the fence. Or having lunch. Or while sleeping.

He needs to be wrapped head to toe in bubble wrap and transported on a hand truck to and from centerfield at the start and end of each inning.
