I do wonder though, if down the road, you'll maybe want to think about porting the game to consoles, if the game can be played ala MLB The Show, etc... because the front office side of this game is the best in the business. If you get graphics up to speed, there's no reason you can't take on MLBTS and even beat them.
As long as they continue to make a PC version. I despise Madden/EA for abandoning their PC base which made Madden, Madden.

Yes, assuming they've used the editor to set up the stadium with the grid overlay, it should just work. However, please keep in mind the caveats Markus outlined in his post. Thanks.

I'm looking forward to release. The loss of full 3D function is no big deal, even as someone who plays out every game. You always release my favorite game of the year and I have no doubt the same will be true this time around.

I just wanted to chime in and say that I'm really enthusiastic about the move to 3D, as long as, as others have said, it remains Football Manager-like in that it's a representation of what's going on in the engine and doesn't actually impact the players or game. Even though that is a big selling point for me this year, I placed my pre-order at the last minute a moment ago. I have nothing but confidence that OOTP will get the 3D working as soon as possible, and in the meantime I'm sure the rest of the product will be as great as always.

Markus, I don't post around here much, but I've been playing since OOTP5. I just wanted to say how great it is to see the company seemingly thriving, hiring new programmers and employees, expanding to other sports, etc. All the best to you and the team on this release and all future releases.

But next year, we *will* add Morganna the Kissing Bandit to the game.

(Yes, I'm kidding. But it would be fun to someday add an Easter egg where 1 in 1,000 times or whatever, a buxom woman runs onto the field and kisses one of your players.)

Don't discount the owner role. That could be fun. Imagine being your version of George Steinbrenner. No longer like the manager? Fire him! Then sit back and watch the outcome. Don't like the left fielder? Order the GM to trade him! Then sit back and watch the outcome. Feel the need for a new ivory back scratcher? Keep more of the profits and cut the team's operating budget. Then sit back and watch the fun.

Playing strictly as an owner could be an interesting and fun experience, especially with some additions and enhancements.

This reminded me of the famous British porn star / model / streaker Lindsey Dawn McKensie.

I'm not discounting it. Just saying that it doesn't interest me and it could take away from my experience depending on how it were to be implemented. I just don't have any interest in things like vendor prices, hot dog stands and how many seats the ballpark has.

But I understand the appeal of it and don't disparage anyone who would find it fun or anyone who would like to see it added to the game.

This is purely a visual thing, correct? Won't affect the progress of simulated games at all?

I believe this was mentioned a few times: '...no affect...'

Yes, 3D is purely visual. No effect on the sim, and you can always turn it off. The same will be true of 3D going forward, even as we add moving players to the field. Thanks.

Regarding the update on the 21st, would I have to re-start my game which I have been playing since the 18th to apply all the changes?

If I have to, that'll be a bummer!

For roster changes, yes. For other stuff, no.

Status of 3D ball flight in OOTP

Is there a patch going to be released soon? The 3D ball flight works good for me, except when the ball is hit to the oufield, it sometimes disappears. I have to rely on the play by play text to know what happened on the play.

There is an update in the works, but it won't address any 3D issues, AFAIK. However, as we've said, we're committed to releasing updates to the 3D function in the game. Our new full-time 3D programmer, Jorin, continues to work on it, so expect that part of the game to make big strides in the coming weeks. Thanks.

Will this update fix the "forced small text" issue?

I'm still using 14 since 15 hurts my eyes.

Oh, really? Did Madden not start out as a console game back in the late 80's?

Madden did indeed start on DOS.

But I would argue that the game that made Madden, Madden, was for consoles.
