Odd ratings

I was going through some ratings to try and find some hidden gems, and organized the ptichers by stuff, and went to the last few for a given card value. I found some odd things. Rollie Fingers (94), for example, has his Stuff listed in the list as being 86, but when I click on the card, the Stuff is 104.

Looking back at the list Markus gave us early on, the 94 Fingers has his stuff listed at 86......what is his stuff?

There were several other examples of this.......

Might this explain why his numbers have been rather poor for a pitcher that I expected to have a stuff of 104????

Is this for all relievers who have a stuff below 128??? Are all stuff ratings for this based on if the player was a starter??

If I remember correctly, Markus mentioned during the early weeks that there were still some adjustments, hence the data in the spreadsheet may not be 100 percent accurate. Depending on when you grabbed the spreadsheet, you may even have the very first copy, which had some additional inaccuracies.

I can't speak much for his performance since I have only seen each of the cards (94 and 95 card) a few times. However, all of them had positive ERA+, WAR, and great WHIP rating (based on Perfect league performances).

Sometimes you have to accept that a card won't always be performing his best.
Example, my own Closer gave me 3 Reliever of the year awards (Silver, Diamond, Perfect) before having a bad year in his second year in perfect.

If I would have made a judgement based on that single year he would be back on the Action House instead of fighting for the title once again.

I see two 94 cards in my league again and they look pretty ok. One of them looks terrific (< 1.5 ERA).

They won't match the stats of some of the crazy good Legend Starters or Legend Relievers but he makes an acceptable closer.

You could be correct. I see that many of the relievers/closers are listed with their ratings as if they were Starters.

Example: If you look at 96 Papelbon, you will see his Stuff is 102 but only 87 in the spreadsheet. If you now change his position from reliever to Starter, the 102 will change to a 87.
So it looks like the spreadsheet considers him a Starter (in ratings) even though he is listed as a Closer.

Spreadsheet numbers for lots of historic pitchers are different than in-game numbers. And it's not just the stuff rating, the biggest difference actually is movement ratings. I've asked for an updated list in numerous threads but they don't seem to care.

It's kinda weird that there's no way - neither inside nor outside the game - to have a complete overview of all players. Baffling.

First, the issue with movement specifically is that the movement listed is not the final composite movement rating we see listed publicly on the card. Technically, these are different, though related, ratings.

Secondly, I agree that it is completely baffling that they did not anticipate that players might want to do something as simple as sort in the auction house by each of the 3 (and only 3) baseline ratings for pitchers.

Additionally, the lack of in game resources - the fact that the released card database was on the forums and not in game - belie their lack of commitment to the collection aspect of this game. This is their prerogative - nobody is saying that they have to value it - but it is disappointing for those of us who do.

It's 86 before he grooms his moustache, 104 after.

You can fix the Mov ratings using the following procedure (also posted elsewhere but reposting it here):

1) Divide the raw MOV rating by 2 and add 25.
This is because these raw ratings are out of 130, but the actual MOV scale seems to be from 25-90, so this projects 0-130 onto 25-90.

2) Adjust for GB% by adding (0.885*(GB%-55.8)).
The average "Neutral" GB% pitcher has a GB% of about 55% rather than 50%. We know this because the NEU GB% range extends from something like 50-60%, roughly. So, this GB% adjustment changes your final MOV by accounting for how far away you are from true neutral. I gathered about 10 data points or so to come up with the coefficients, but this should be pretty close; the (rounded) values are either exact or off by 1 at most.

I just wish they would update the list with new content releases.
