Spot starters
I have recently come back to the game after a break. Getting addicted again. Anyway, I think I may have been doing this all wrong for a long time. If I have a number 5 starter I want to skip when there is an off day during the week is setting a 4 man rotation with an emergency starter the right way to do it? I am assuming if all other starters are tired the emergency starter will start. Would that be correct or if I do strict order will it just start the next guy if not injured? I usually sim weekly, if not interrupted so I suppose I could just set 4 man rotation when there is an off day in the week. A bit more automation would be nice though.
I have tried strict order with start highest rested but it seems to not always work the way I want same with occasionally start highest rested. |

What I do is use 5 man rotation, use highest rested. It will depend a lot on your schedule but with my schedule the top 2 or 3 starters end up with about 5 more starts in the season, 154 game season.

In a past version you could assign a pitcher to pitch a percentage of the starts. I would assign him to start 4 to 8 % of the time. This made him a spot starter. I'd also use him during double headers. I wish this feature would return.
