Another MLB Run Through
So all the cool kids were doing it, so I fired up one, to test some things before I tinkered.
I used Spritze's DB, so there are Negro League players all the way through, one of whom had an awesome career and another was denied the Hall by OOTP (unjustly, I think). I used neutralized stats, random development, and 3-year re-calc, which I think depressed HR totals overall and made batting averages a bit higher in the modern era. May try again using real stats instead.
I let everything be the defaults here, except that in 1942 I retired all Japanese players. In the years 1942, 1943, 1944, and 1945, I randomly retired players ages 16-30, taking about 30% away in '42, then probably about 10% or so in 43-45. For 1942, I un-retired anyone who was 35-37 to make sure we had enough men to play.
In 1946, I un-retired all Japanese players. I also un-retired everyone who was ages 16-35. I did not return them to original teams, that would take too much time. In my world, I figure Truman says, "Let these men who were willing to give up their lives decide who they want to play for when they return." --a crack in the Reserve clause!
(This was a dry run for doing a war disruption.)
I added AAA in 1901, AA in 1921, A in 1951, and R in 1981. I know there are more levels than that, but I think 4 is plenty for any game I'd want to play out.
The one thing I found is that I probably need to stop allowing it to use historical modifiers after 1991, and maybe return to them in 2011. I hate seeing the cheaters in my leaderboards with those inflated numbers they got from injecting crap.
So, feel free to ask away and I'll tell you about a player or three. What I'll do is maybe give it a few days to collect names, then share, so I am not hopping in and out of the league file.
Have fun poking through my history!
