Sim Times

So I have been testing my 24-team, fictional league idea. I then thought about adding feeders to strengthen the draft pools. However, after adding the feeders, the sim time slowed down considerably. Below are some numbers from the sims.

League without Feeders: - 4 minutes from April 1st through Playoffs

League with Feeders:
- 4 minutes from April 1 to June 5th Draft:
- 3 minutes to sim the actual draft (50 rounds)
- 8 minutes it took to sim from April 1 to July 1
- 16 ½ minutes from April 1st through the end of Playoffs
This was also without:
- Scouting Reports being updated only at start of season and end of season
- Report History keeping no reports
- Auto-Save only Once a Year
- Top Prospect List "Annually" instead of Dynamic
- No Face-Gen

I assume with the above options to keep more stuff and update more often, the game will slow down even more and just as the league gets more history it will get slower and slower. Has anyone else seen their game slow down considerably with feeders?

I really don't see a problem. Your talking minutes. Try playing the original Madden and having to wait 10 minutes to run 1 play on a commodore 64.
I can see fast simming necessary at times but personally I wish I could slow the damn thing down. I'm not a speed reader and I think you can enjoy the season more.
To each his own but I guess it just seems like starting civ 5 in the ancient Era and simming 500 years a turn.

How many feeder teams did you add? If you used the default feeder league setup you probably added 100+ teams to your game. That's a lot more games, a lot more record keeping, a lot more AI moves.....going to slow things down.

I just deleted all the feeders and the game is running so much quicker. I guess that answers my question about if I wanted to keep feeders or not..

To be honest it all depends on the amount of feeders you have and the deatil that each league is set at and adding any league to your game will slow it down a bit, my game is about 4 minutes a week which is a long season but I have a lot of feeders

It shouldn't come as a surprise the larger and more intricate you make your league the longer it takes to simulate it.

Below is a handy guide to help you in the future:

Small league: Fast simulation time
Big league: Slow simulation time

I have a league similar to this (24 teams with 5 minor leagues and 84 feeder teams) and it takes about 5-6 minutes to sim an entire year. I've been testing this league by simming 10-20 years at a time and it takes a little less than an hour to sim 10 years. I have all game settings, options, etc. pretty much at default.

I remember when I first discovered OOTP, with version 2006, simming a 24 team league with three levels of minors (and no feeders, of course) took 40 minutes to finish a year.

Oh, the good old days!

What's your breakdown of the feeder teams? Like 50/50 between HS and College?

What kind of detail does that consist of?

2 of my 4 Major Leagues are Very High Detail Most of the minor Leagues are at Normal Detail and all my Feeders are Normal. My Japan Minor league and my CBL lowest minor league are at low detail.

Your league with only one major league you should be fine on speed, simming years will take time but it all depends on how many years you sim, now If your playing the game and not simming then having face gen only for Major leaguer's and either once a year or On-demand it doesn't slow the week to week down.
