Mike Ivie 1971

This is the best Padres image I've seen of the notorious Ivie. Credit for the photo goes to the Baseball Hall of Fame collection.

I regret to see that this site has pretty much dried up after all that happened because of a few idiots. For those unaware, the best site for great baseball photos may be this one on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1875393279364705/

Hello. Any known photos of these players in a Reds Uni? They were acquired late 1980. Danny Walton, Joe Kerrigan and Greg Mahlberg. Kerrigan and Mahlberg were NRI in 1981. Thanks to any response.

Jim Whitney 1881

Not a commonly seen uniform for this once famous hurler. He pitched in only 9 games for Indianapolis.

Charlie Chech 1905

Chech pitched in the big leagues with for a few years and had a particularly good season in 1908 with Cleveland. He went on to a lengthy (and successful) minor league career on the West Coast. He is pictured here with the 1903 St. Paul Saints.

Dusty B. Miller 1889

Miller carved out a decent career as an outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds just before the turn of the century. He got called up in 1895 after he destroyed minor league pitching while playing for the 1894 Toledo White Stockings.

The Facepack or Photopack has conventionally been produced by the site co-ordinator, who is currently TNFOTO. However, it is around a year since the facepack has been updated. The facepack can be found on TNFOTO's personal web site via the link below.

Danny Sheaffer 1987 Indians

Images have been piling up in my files. Here, to start, is a 1989 Historic Images shot of Danny Sheaffer. Sheaffer was briefly a reserve catcher with the Red Sox when Rich Gedman was having a contract snit (1987) and two years later he was one of the crowd of marginals who got playing time with the '89 Indians. Here is Danny with the Tribe, and how happy he looks to be with them too.

Jeff Dedmon 1983 Indians

Jeff Dedmon was a fair to middlin' relief pitcher for the Braves in the mid and late 80s. His one great moment came during a Braves spring training when Ted Turner saw him in a check suit and uttered the deathless line, "Dedmon, don't wear plaid." In 1988 Dedmon bounced from the Braves to the AL's American Indian squad in Cleveland. Here he is in an Historic Images shot.

It seems a bit harsh to refer to Mike Ivie as notorious. From all accounts, this guy had severe emotional issues in dealing with the pressure of being a number 1 pick. I don't think a person with mental health issues should be referred to as notorious. Troubled, maybe, but certainly not notorious.

He was notorious from the point of view of the organizations which invested in him. The Padres spent years trying to get some kind of return from Ivie, then they passed him on to the Giants. He had a very good '79 season for SF, then cut a finger the next year, retired because he couldn't stand the strain of rehab, then unretired and failed once more to hit. Then the Astros tried him, then the Tigers tried him...If the man had some mental problems I can sympathize, but from the strictly professional point of view he was indeed a notoriously bad investment. If I had been a GM I wouldn't have gone near him.

Would anyone have a decent picture of Rube Oldring in a Yankee
uniform? I can't even find a bad one.
