Typical time commitment?
How much time does the average online league require of its GMs? Is it too hard to generalize, or is there a common pattern? Do most leagues expect one to remain in the league for years of real time? Is a typical schedule something like "set your weekly roster every day" or "set your roster every other day"? Does the typical submission revolve mostly around submitting a roster, or does one spend a lot of time working on financials, trades, player development, minor league moves, etc.?
I have played online games of other sorts before (play-by-email wargames, MMOs, etc.), so I'm accustomed to committing time to online gaming. I'm just wondering how big a chunk of time an online OOTP game requires. Thanks in advance. |

I want to add that it really depends on the how long the sims are what league it is.
I have played in a league that sims real time 1 game per day and unless I was formulating a trade very little time was spent making a 1 or 2 game fix for lineups and what not. I currently play in a league where we 7 games at a time, 3 times per week so more time has to be spent maintaining. Also the league is participation enhanced, so many teams write PR's about their team, we have a twitter feed for each team, as well as an owner who does a weekly podcast about league matters. It actually can take up a good amount of time if you really want it to, and to be honest the more time I spend on a league, the more I get into it. |
