Defeating the Shift

How about allowing batter to bunt towards third against a hard right shift? I chose to bunt for a hit with Jay Bruce, and he popped ot right to the 1B.

While that'd be ideal, not every player can successfully bunt to the wide open side assuming they can make contact and push it into fair territory (and push it down rather than in the air).

I'd call this a Risk/Reward with choosing Bunt. Maybe you get the easy base hit or the bunter ends up popping out/fouling out instead.

Thanks, DawnBTVS. Great name, by the way!

I agree that there needs to be a risk/reward, but the attempt should be directed towards 3B at least.

I’m going to test it out to see if most attempts are in that direction.

Though she was quite an unpopular character at the time. (I left that fandom ages ago, so I don't know whether the tie-in comics redeemed her.)
