I usually shy away and dislike rating active fighters until their careers are over and complete.
It is very hard to get accuracy until you see thewhole picture. |

yep exactly, to me rating a fighter is like solving a great puzzle, each fight is like a tiny clue.
Rating active fighters is an exercise in guesswork that I also find harder for another reason im too emotionally involved. I need some time and distance so I can get dispassionat regarding their strengths and weaknesses. |

Rating active fighters
While I undertand that philosophy, I don't adhere to it. I habitually rate any fighter I see on TV even if he's making his pro debut and now post it in my Miscellaneous Fighters thread. I acknowledge that these fighter's records will undoubtedly need adjustmanet, perhaps even major adjustment, but these are unofficial fighter ratings after all and are there for the fun of it. If historical accuracy was the only consideration in the game then we wouldn't have a random fighter mechanism in it and we wouldn't have tons of fictional fighters posted. By the way, while I'm mainly focused right now on reviviing fighters from earlier versions of the game, I've been toying around with the idea of creating templates for fighters whose overall ratings are higher then zero going all the way up to 15. These templates could theoretically be adjusted to fit any historical fighter that is being rated or form the base upon which a fictional fighter could be fleshed out.

Dean, I am very interested to see what your take is on the fighters of the past, but at the moment I don't have the capacity to open a zip file with my current system since my system crashed in October, and was replaced with less than what I had previously.
