Here's my historic 1st historical pack. Smoky! Andre... Joe Mays, rookie of the year, lol... Schoolboy Rowe, Samardzija (great Wide Receiver for when we are doing fantasy football) & Cuccinello.

I was considering a modest point purchase to help show my appreciation for tournaments, a consideration that became far more serious when they announced the historic packs and the points sale.

Now I need to decide if I will invest in historic packs or purchase historic cards off the market from the many who have.

Reasons to buy historical packs:
- You are OCD about "mint" cards, i.e. no prior stats.
- You want to accumulate a lot of bronze cards for tourney use.
- You just like opening packs.
- You want to have a chance at a lottery card.

Reasons to buy at auction house:
- You want a bargain (more sellers than buyers)
- You only need specific cards for improvement
- You have certain collections to complete

I bought 25,000 for each of my pack only teams to buy 1 Historical, 10 live and 5000 left to fill up some missions.

Didn't get anything to write home about from the Historicals, but 1 live pack for the Clippers got me both a Perfect Anthony Rendon and Perfect Jackie Robinson. Went to take a screenshot and hit the wrong button..

Opened two historic packs and the second one rewarded us with a 100 Brett.
A nice reward for a mid-level Perfect league team that needed upgrades at quite a few spots.

Opened two historic packs with another team and the reward was a 2K-3K Gold PP player and a few duplicate players for lower level tournaments.

Sold my entire LIVE set on a dead end team and landed appx 200K, bought 20 packs and netted appx 50K worth of cards. Not one Diamond. A few double Golds and mid range silvers. The rest a box of bronze.

As a follow up, since they added the Dodger missions last week, I was able to clear out the mission Robinson was the key card for and got 94 rated Carl Furillo. Did a search for his card everywhere, but couldn't see what I was going to get since it was a new card. Turns out he is a 91 contact and 83 power and I plugged him right into my lineup. Haven't seen him anywhere in the game, so should be interesting to see how he does.

So while the Historical pack didn't get me anyone, my $$ spent ended up getting me 2 Perfects and a good looking Diamond. (And I have 5,000 points left over)

Well, I reluctantly bought a Historical pack... this is what I got. Never even pulled a Perfect card before, so this worked out pretty well.

I bought 25 historical packs and I thought I would share the results here. My team has a historical-only theme, and I had a very small collection built via the auction house (at one point I only had 31 cards). I thought this would be a good way to add cards to my collection for missions and tournaments. I didn't plan to profit by the effort so I only intended to sell duplicates. I pulled a couple of decent cards for collections that I have already completed, so I might sell those to recoup a little of my investment. I was disappointed that I didn't pull anything higher than a gold, but I did get a lot of useful cards for tournaments.

Summary by tier:
Perfect 0 (expected 0)
Diamond 0 (expected 1)

Bought 6 historical packs, but I'm saving them for when I actually win tournaments, sort of as an extra bonus prize.

The art design on them is awesome. I like just looking at them there unopened.

No screenshot but I got my two best pulls ever (by far) out of historical packs.

Perfect Nolan Ryan and (the far better card) 99 Rube Marquard

I hit the lucky lottery as well. Only had enough points for two packs and I pulled a 100 Rogers Hornsby.

I pulled that 99 Marquard out of a Diamond pack I got from completing the Negro Leagues mission; along with a Spud Chandler from a regular pack in the original PT 1.0, it's my best pull ever. Enjoy it!

Marquard may be better, but Peak Nolan was the card I decided to target with my points purchase (favorite player ever, fits the pitching theme I'm about to outgrow again, and it allowed me to complete the final Astros mission, allowing me to replace my amazing Cedeno with the even better SE Cedeno). I do still have points left over, so we'll see where things go from here.

If you happened to sell your Nolan at about 10am CST on Thursday morning, then know that he found his forever home that will treat him well and take him on many walks that will likely occur every 5th day

That's pretty cool. Not sure who sold him, but it wasn't me.

I kept him, he and Rube are heading up my rotation now!

I plowed 200K PP into these historical packs and got nothing worth noting. Like any other pack opening, it's quite the crapshoot. To those pulling great cards out of tiny samples--congrats! To those watching others do this--beware! Your results may vary.
