Season 2 Final Update

The Boston Beanchewers have triumphed over the Grey Sox, who get knocked out for the 2nd straight season, although clearly one of the finest teams in the small league.

And as I type the deciding game 5 between the Detroit Bees and the San Diego Music...It is the Detroit Bees with a 1-0 victory in 10 innings.

Just not in the place to go into detail right now but...

It's gonna be the Boston Beanchewers vs. the Detroit Bees in season 2 for the NAGBA Champion Trophy.

Perhaps that's why I'm waiting to sim the final. When I feel like describing a little detail, I'll do it.

Wait a second...What's this? I'm a little sleepy & didn't notice that they were 7 game semi-finals...there will be a deciding game 7 between the Detroit Bees and the San Diego Music after the Music win game 6 to knot the series at 3...

Game 7 of the Greater Western Final
2-0 Detroit lead after 3 innings...
7-2 San Diego lead after 6...
8-4 final in favor of the San Diego Music...baseball's a rough game sometimes...the Bees loaded the bases with 2 out in the 9th only for the batter representing the tying run to Casey at the bat it. He struck out.

So...correction...the Boston Beanchewers vs. the San Diego Music for the NAGBA Champion Trophy in Season 2.

8 HR and 3 RBI. Remarkable.

I can guess for you that that was the other way around.

We may have to play it out on our own.

Game 1, Jaspers at Otters

So I decided I was ready to kick off the 3rd NAGBA Championship Series just moments ago, I'll be posting updates this evening, should be over by the end of the night:

After 3 innings in game 1, the Manhattan Jaspers have a 1-0 lead...
After 6 innings, the Jaspers are holding on to a 2-1 lead with a great pitching performance from Ryan Rigney (20-25 career).
Still 2-1 entering the 9th inning...
Manhattan went into the bottom of the 9th up 3-1, Rigney got into some trouble, in came the relief corps, and moments later the score was tied at 3...
Extra innings in game 1.
Still 3-3 after 11 innings.
The Otters win it in the bottom of the 12th, final 4-3. Josh Engstrom drives in Nick Griggs on a single.
And Houston takes a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Game 2 in Houston

Manhattan loads the bases in the top of the 1st but fail to score.
Manhattan saved their ace Miguel Alvarez (46-23 career) for game 2...
Manhattan takes a 1-0 lead into the 4th inning again.
3-0 Manhattan going into the 7th inning...
Alvarez retires Engstrom & Griggs to start the bottom of the 7th. (Game 1 heroes and 3rd & 4th hitters in the Houston lineup.)
Manhattan wins game 2, 3-0, with Alvarez going the distance allowing just 4 hits. (9 IP, 4 H, 0 BB, 0 R).
Series tied at 1 going to Manhattan!

Game 3, Manhattan

The Manhattan Jaspers have 3 home games in a row as they try to steal the 3rd NAGBA Championship after a 59-61 regular season. Houston finished the season with a 65-55 record.

Although 4 games are scheduled to be played in Houston and 3 in Manhattan, if the road team (Manhattan) can defend their home turf, take 2 out of 3 at home, and split the road games, they will win the series, 4-3.

The score in game 3 is 2-2 entering the 4th inning.
Houston has scored 4 runs in the 4th inning before making an out & the score is now 6-2 in favor of the Otters. The Jaspers have plenty of time for a comeback if they can keep the game from getting out-of-hand.
Manhattan was threatening to make it a 1-run game in the bottom of the 7th but the game goes to the 8th inning 7-4, Houston...
Now 9-5 Houston entering the 9th inning, doesn't look good for Manhattan...
Well, they threatened to tie it up with the bases loaded in the bot. of the 9th but Houston wins it 9-6, recording the 2nd & 3rd outs with the bases loaded and a 3-run advantage.
Series is now 2-1 in favor of Houston.

A pivotal Game 4 in Manhattan...

Pretty close to a must-win for Manhattan in front of their own fans.

After 3 innings, the score is Houston 1, Manhattan 0.
One of these low-scoring pitching duels has developed. Still 1-0 after 6 innings...
An error by Houston opens the doors of opportunity for Manhattan in the bottom of the 9th...runners on 2nd & 3rd, nobody out...
From there, a fly out that did not result in a score, an intentional walk, another fly out where the apparently slow runner on 3rd base holds again, and a game-ending grounder to secure a 1-0 Otters victory. Series now 3-1, Houston Otters!

Houston tries to win the series in game 5 in Manhattan

Manhattan opens strong, with a 3-0 advantage after 3 innings...
3-1 Manhattan, mid 6th...
Final Houston 6, Manhattan 5 as Houston scores 3 in the top of the 9th.
Series MVP went to pitcher Felipe Medrano. (CG Shutout in Game 4)

Season 1 Champions: San Francisco Giants
Season 2 Champions: San Diego Music
Season 3 Champions: Houston Otters

Thumbs up Time to give away another trophy

In season 4, the finals will be the hard-hitting Manhattan Jaspers vs. either... San Diego or Houston, so first thing that came to my mind is this league will have its first repeat champion, no matter which of the three prevail. I'm going to make this one short & sweet, update some time later today on how the finals and Game 7 of the Music vs. Otters game went.

Thanks for reading!

Of course I was wrong about that...I said repeat but meant 2x champ...and...if the heavily favored Jaspers win, it will be their 1st NAGBA Championship trophy.
