Teams in my league tradiing just signed free agents
I am in the 2023-24 offseason of the Midwest Baseball League with my St. Louis River Walkers.
I came out of the season looking for a closer, and there were about 10 who I could live with. I got the guy I wanted, Edwin Diaz, just before the start of spring training. What was strange, was that as the others signed, they were almost immediately put on the trading block. I found this strange. Was this because closer was among my team needs and they signed these guys hoping to fleece me in a trade? |

this sort of thing is inevitable with a game ai... adding that player caused a decision. that decision just happened to involve that very same player.
it doesn't look ahead, at least in the context you experienced. maybe, if they don't do it already, the ai should evaluate what it'll do IF it adds a targeted player, before pulling the trigger, and if that ensuing action (one step beyond signing the guy) invovles that player, make sure it makes sense. sign and trade isn't unusual. it should occur on occasion... how often? no idea, but real life data would dictate that % easily refrenced, exists already etc.. signing a guy and immediately dumping them would be something else, entirely - or anythign else that makes no logical sense, like a 4th 1B or something. how often it happens is the key... if wide spread, it something they need to address. |
