Today is the second straight day the Colt .45s have off.

The Colt .45s traded SS Don Buddin and 3B Bob Aspromonte to the StLouis Cardinals for SP Larry Jackson.

The trading deadline is today.

In the top of the second, the Colt .45s loaded the bases with two out. Amalfitano grounded back to the pitcher to retire the side.

In the bottom of the second, Bolling put the Braves on the board with a two run double. Adcock brought two more home with a two out double. The Braves batted around the order in the inning.

In the top of the third, Kasko put the Colt .45s on the board with an RBI single.

After three: Milwaukee 4 Houston 1.

In the bottom of the fourth, Taussig threw Jones out at home as he was trying to score from second on an Adcock single.

Phil Ortega took the mound for the Colt .45s in the bottom of the sixth. Adcock got his RBI single this time. Mathews hit a two out three run homer. Al Cicotte took the mound for the Colt .45s. Torre greeted him with a solo home run.

After six: Milwaukee 9 Houston 1

Cicotte left the game with an injury with one out in the bottom of the seventh. Dick Drott took the mound for the Colt .45s.

In the bottom of the eighth, Aaron got his 65th RBI of the season with a run-scoring double. Al Heist, playing center field, threw Aaron out at home as he tried to score from second on a Mathews single. Torre brought Mathews home with a two out single.

In the top of the ninth, the Colt .45s loaded the bases with nobody out. Heist hit an RBI single. Chris Cannizzaro went down on strikes for the first out. Jim Pendleton then grounded into the game ending 6-4-3.

The two teams combined for 29 hits in the contest.

Final score: Milwaukee 11 Houston 2.

After a leadoff single in the bottom of the eighth, Howie Koplitz took the mound for the Colt .45s. The Braves loaded the bases with one out. Maye grounded into the 3-2 fielder's choice for the second out. Bolling drew a four pitch walk to bring home the tying run. Pinch hitter Denis Menke drew a four pitch walk to force in the go-ahead run. Ashburn then flew to center to end the inning.

Don McMahon took the mound for the Braves in the top of the ninth. He set the Colt .45s down in order to end the game.

After going 0-9 on their road trip, the Colt .45s are back in Houston for a fourteen game home stand, beginning with a four game series against the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds are 6-0 so far in the month of August. The Reds lead the season series 8-1.

In the top of the third, Pinson put the Reds on the board with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the third, Bright gave the Colt .45s the lead with a two out two run double. Mejias brought Bright home with a single.

Jim Brosnan took the mound for the Reds in the bottom of the twelfth and set the Colt .45s down in order.

After getting the final out in the bottom of the first, Tsitouris left the game with an arm injury.

In the top of the second, Edwards hit a two out RBI single. Taussig then threw Adair out at home as he tried to score from second on a pinch hit single by Tommy Harper.

Dave Giusti took the mound for the Reds in the bottom of the second. Smith led off the frame with a game-tying home run. Spangler hit a two out two run triple to put the Colt .45s in the lead.

In the bottom of the third, Smith struck again, this time with a two run double. With Smith at second and nobody out, Bill R Henry took the mound for the Reds.

With one out in the bottom of the fifth, Jim Brosnan took the mound for the Reds. The Colt .45s loaded the bases with one out. Taussig lined to first for the second out. Bruce, the Colt .45s pitcher, drew a full count walk to force in a run. Former Colt .45s pitcher Jim Umbricht took the mound for the Reds. Spangler then flew to center to end the inning.

In the top of the sixth, Coleman hit a two run homer. Bruce had hit Cardenas with the previous pitch. With runners at second and third and one out, Howie Koplitz took the mound for the Colt .45s. Adair scored when O'Connell grounded to short. Pinson hit a two out single to score Edwards and make it a one run game.

In the bottom of the sixth, Mejias gave the Colt .45s some breathing room back with a two run homer. One out later, Umbricht left the game with an elbow injury. Moe Drabowsky took the mound for the Reds with the bases empty and two out.
