No money for FA - plenty of Cap space?
Just bought version 6
is there a glich in this version for budgets? two seasons in a row i have cleared cap room (now over 22m) yet I have a negative number to sign FAs and I have little to no money to extend contracts....how is this possible? how do i correct? shows cap hit of 64m, yet payroll of 89m - missing something? |

Your team budget ? if you cant manage having more 89M from your team owner you can't pay your player, thats the reason i think

Thanks but thats not it. I get the team budget is set to 85m, I am keeping salary cap in the 60s, yet it is saying my player payroll is 89m, giving me no money for FAs or contracts....
i dont get it. why the gap in player payroll and cap hit..... I also look at committed and cap hit tabs and they both are in the 60m range... why is player payroll adding up so high? |

Cap hit vs Budget is completely different. When you have contracts that are frontloaded or backloaded, how much you're actually paying is different. My guess is you have some guys on some heavily backloaded contracts. Cap hit is low, but actual money cost right now is hurting you.

I understand that concept. However, when I look at Salary obligation and Cap obligation there is negligible difference? Definitely not the difference on 20m + I see between Payroll and Cap.
So where else would I see that? |

Just using 2 quick examples, you can see Patrice Bergeron's salary is actually https://www.capfriendly.com/players/patrice-bergeron - 2 million in difference. Marchand's? 2 to 5 million depending on the season. Those add up. |

I appreciate and understand your comment.
However, this is not the case. I checked almost all players are straight-loaded contracts. As I mentioned, in the Finance section under the team, I see compared the numbers: "Salary Obligation" is $68m "Cap Obligation" is $61m (this is the difference you note) But then on the Finance tab is says "Player Payroll" 89m? I am not seeing where this extra $20m is coming from? There is no screen that shows me this and is making this game unplayable. |

ok, so now in comparison to other teams why would the Bruins have such a low budget - 85m compared to Carolina for example at 99m and most other teams
is there a way to edit/change this? |

Noticing the same exact same as the Bruins in the online league I just joined.
The things I have noticed so far: The game appears to be counting an outstanding extension offer against this year's budget. It would be nice to have a total budget, it is unclear if your Staff Budget is totally separate or come out of your player budget. The game says I have $10 million in budget room for this year, I have offered just over 4 million in contracts for this year and it says I have negative money for Free Agents and have offered over $8 million. Some of this may be it counting the extension against this year's money as previously mentioned Some of this is probably that I am new, but I can always figure out the finances in OOTP and see why and I am not finding a legit reason unless Staff Budget is part of it, but not listed within that budget. My biggest observation of this great game is the financial screens need some work, I would suggest one budget with all expenses listed and some clarity on if the staff budget is separate or not Please feel free to educate me on this as I am new and may be missing the obvious. I searched the manual and found nothing that really addressed the ins and outs of finances Thanks! |

It's all tied together but money can be hidden by loaning players out or not having contracts kick in yet either.
Again, screenshots posting and the save possibly too. |
