Ways to increase Fan Interest?

Your opinion on a way (or ways) to increase "Fan Interest"?

If you see the "best" way already listed, feel free to add another way. If the effect is cumulative, then the more, the better!

Dear Winnipeg59,

First take over a winning team. Like one that just beat the New York Yankees in six games in the WS. Then sell off every player not making the league minimum for prospects. They don't even need to be good prospects. But if they are sell them the moment they are eligible for arbitration.

Now that that is done, lie to your host city, the MLB, and MLBPA about your operating expenses and revenue. I don't mean just cooking books son... you barbecue them. Then threaten to move the team until they build you a new stadium. If interest begins to wane then buy a few free agents and give the appearance of "making a run". Don't worry about the added expense, the Trade Deadline is just three months away. Trade them all then tell the fans it's all their fault you had to do it.

Sue any season ticket holders who refuse to renew. That is always a crowd pleaser. Fill your new stadium, that you didn't contribute a nickel for, with gaudy sculptures and bland food. Then, when they can't take it anymore, trade all your prospects for aging and under-performing veterans, massively overpay the one star you have, sell the team and leave behind a huge mess for the new owners to clean up. Retire to the BVI and drink wine made from the tears of your fans.

That's how you do it!

Love,
