Maybe not so much a database issue but an injury issue in the 17-18 database - Lindholm in the game is out almost 5 months but in real life he's expected back in the next few days.

I'll lower the duration a bit (there's still going to be some degree of randomness, though.) Rotowire's still showing two more weeks for him, did the Ducks move up his expected return recently?

According to their beat writer he's been taking part in full practices for a while and has started taking reps on both special team units. I would say he will be back either this game or the next.

Ah, must've been a typo in the draft list he was imported from, we'll get that fixed. This actually turned up a little problem with our internal editor, too, it's filtering out players with heights above 50 feet, so he was hidden when I checked for height mistakes in the final pre-release database update.

8th round pick - Jayden Jensen * re-rate and add rights

11th round - Zack Osborne * re-rate and add rights

Nashville Predators historical challenge

I found a few data issues with the Nashville Predators historical challenge.
  • Kimmo Timonen has the captain's C when the challenge starts in 2005-06, but that was Greg Johnson's final season as captain. Timonen was only captain for one season (2006-07) before being traded to PHI.
  • Paul Kariya, who would lead the 2005-06 Predators in both goals (31) and assists (54) and go on to play four more productive seasons of NHL hockey, is rated as the fifth-best left wing on the team's roster with a 1.5 overall and 1.5 potential.
  • Pekka Rinne (1.5 overall, 4.0 potential) and Chris Mason (1.0 overall, 1.0 potential) should be swapped on the depth chart - at the very least Mason should be given a mild boost, maybe to 1.5 or 2.0 overall. Mason (23 GP, .913 Sv%, 2.54 GAA) was the regular backup to Tomas Vokoun in 2005-06. Rinne (2 GP, .900 Sv%, 3.80 GAA) was playing his first pro season in North America and all but 63 of his 3,023 minutes that year were played in AHL Milwaukee.

No captains data in the historical game yet, so the AI makes a choice at the start. We just enabled the ability to record historical captains in the database a little while ago, so I'm hoping to get all of that data in for FHM5.

Kariya's career path is tough to model because of that anomalous terrible year in Colorado; right now I've got his decline set to start then, but I'll adjust that a little so he's not so bad in the Nashville years (and even then, he shouldn't go downhill so quickly, I'll keep an eye out on him when I do future tests.)

I'll take a look at Mason's ratings, he might need some improvement. (Edit: yeah, he was definitely too low.)

Injury db

Quick shout.
In the injury database:
Broken Thigh.
methinks this may be in error. Maybe Broken Femur or Thigh Sprain. Not quite sure how you break a thigh

Juuse Saros

In Nashville backup goalie Juuse Saros's profile, his 2015-2016 season data in AHL Milwaukee shows him with 81 goals against on 0 shots against.

Looks like that's the case for quite a few AHL goalies, I'll have to go back and check the original data and possibly re-import their stats.

1974 Rosters

Start in 1974 Historical.
Larry Giroux (D) is indicated a member of Kansas City, but the trade was effectuated late October for Chris Evans. Take note that Chris Evans is still a member of the Scouts (thats correct).

1974-10-29 Blues acquired • Chris Evans• 1975 or 1976 fourth round pick (1976 #56-Mike Liut)
• Released Larry Giroux
trade with Scouts
1974-10-29 Scouts acquired • Larry Giroux

Ah, looks like I missed that one because Giroux didn't play any games for the Blues before being traded. Fixed now, thanks.

Ah, never noticed that. Probably a very old mistake, when we initially built the database the city import didn't work well, so a lot of guys wound up with the version of their birthplace in another city/state.

1974 start

Cam Connor LW should start with Phoenix(WHA) rather than MTL Canadiens. He was also a Phoenix 1974 first round pick and choosed to sign with them.

Ah, looks like his WHA stats that year are mistakenly set to Montreal, I'll switch them back to Phoenix. The Canadiens are the default team in the database so that happens once in a while due to data entry mistakes on my part, but in this case Montreal's also coincidentally the team that owned his NHL rights at the time.
