Anderson Utilities - AUHOF

Here is another one...

AUHOF - This is a program that looks at a players career stats and assigns points based on certain numbers. For example, over 2499 hits = 5 points, over 2599 points is another 2 points, over 499 home runs is 5 points, etc.

A hitter can get points for:

Hits, average, OBP, slugging percentage, walks, 2bs, 3bs, hrs, runs, rbis, times on the leaderboard (with extra points if he leads) (no points for hitter leading in K's), all-star games, player of the week, player of the month, player of the year, SB-CS, gold gloves.

The program creates a grid, as shown in the attachment that has all sortable fields.

IMHO, HOFpoints represent how good the player really was.

I have just done the hitters now, pitchers to follow soon. I will also be tweaking the numbers, so run it on your league and let me know what you think. Players must have 2000 at bats to qualify. A * next to their name means they are still active.

I also plan on adding a way for 'you' to tweak the settings for your league.

Looks great Larry. The top point leaders in my league look pretty good. I don't have that many 500 hr guys, so the ones that hit a lot get a boost...but it still looks pretty accurate.

I would love to see you make it so I could tweak it a bit.

Great job again!

I added some eye candy to look at while it loads the data.

Also added a couple new fields:

HOF - True of False : Indicates if the player is in the HOF already.
POS - Their primary position.

I also started to work on the configuration screens. You can view what I have so far, but just can't use it yet.

Starting the pitchers tonight if all goes well.

Hey Larry, I was checking out some of the numbers and I noticed 2 things.

1) It is pulling numbers from all levels (or at least AAA).

2) It is having trouble with mid season trades.

I found a couple guys that finished their career in AAA with those numbers listed in the tables. I also found some people showing up missing some stats. They all were part of in-season deals.

Really enjoying the depth of stats and easy sorting this program gives.

1. You are correct. But I have fixed that. I was not checking the league field, just the split field. That has been corrected. (Future versions may allow you to select which level you want, MLB, AAA, etc.

2. That one I will have to look further into.

New version out now.

1. Fixes the issue with the wrong level stats being brought in.
2. Added the pitchers
3. Added more eye candy

NOTE: Pitchers HOF points are just based on wins, saves and K's now. I will add more later.

Here is the formula for pitchers so far:

hof points = total Wins divided by 10
if more than 199 wins, get bonus points:

> 199 = 5
> 224 = 2
> 249 = 2
> 275 = 2
> 299 = 7
> 349 = 5
> 399 = 7
> 499 = 10

This is added up, so if you had 300 wins, you would get (30+5+2+2+2+7) = 48

Saves are the same forumula, as wins.

K's:

Total K's divided by 100

Then, if more than 2999 K's, you get a bonus point for every 100 K's

________
More stuff to add for pitchers:

winning percentage: Over .650 you get bonus points
ERA: the lower, the more points, to a certain point
walks/ip: the lower, the more points, to a certain point
k's/ip: the lower, the more points, to a certain point
WHIP: the lower, the more points, to a certain point
complete games
shutouts
K's vs. walks
hrs/ip: the lower, the more points, to a certain point

Cy Young, All-star, leaderboard

Of course, leading the league in walks or wild pitchers, etc. does not get you points

I also want to add more points for fielding. As of now, fielding is just for gold glove winners. I want to add points based on how well of a fielder you are.

_________________
Each league will have its own 'borderline' for HOF. For instance, my league may allow every hitter with more than 200 HOF points into the HOF, while 175-199 would require closer examination. While your league, with lower homerun totals would require only 150 points.
_________________
I do NOT compare to season totals, but may consider that later on. Since this is a career program, I do not think season totals are as important.

Yeah, but tweak option won't be functioning for a little while though. That's a lot of coding!!

I added a whole lot more to the pitching stats, but still need to add the HOF points for other stuff. Still doing some thought process on how to do it.

I tweaked the users saves a little also.

Ok, I hadn't tried the tweak (I noticed it only had a few things, so I figured you wree playing with it).

I did notice that the pitchers seem to be pulling only starters (based off what I am seeing for save totals). Not sure if this is intentional.

Of course every time I run the program, there is another version available...so it may be changed since last time.

Thank you for all your hard work.

I changed the innings min. to 1000 from 2000, so now you should see more RPs in there.

Try it now.

I added some more trapping, let me know if it happens again, I will put more trapping in.

I am doing math, like walks divided by IP, or HRs divided IP and with 1000 innings, I could not imagion any zero fields, but I have it covered now.

Still getting it Larry. Same error/ same place. I even did another CSV dump and have not progressed in my season from where I was when it was working for me.

I am assuming it has to do something with the pitchers, so I trapped the pitchers information and it should give you a pop up now with the player in question and let you continue.

See how that works.

Alright, sorry for the trouble. This was a league that I started in 6.5. Since it worked originally, I didn't think about it. It is because some of the new calculations you are using wasn't tracked in 6.5.

On a seperate note, there seem to be a lot of relievers rated highly (I know you are still tinkering). It is probably because of the per 9 stats that they will excel in.

No problem, you forced me to put better error trapping in.

Actually, it is the save formula. I tweaked it down, but need to do it more. But, still have all tons of points to add.

Just checking wins, saves and K's now. Will do it later tonight. I added all of the math stuff, pretty cool way to look at the stats though.

Absolutely Larry. Your formulas are great.

When you do your tweaks, if there is any way to make some of those pitchers fields to be toggled on/off that would be great.

Otherwise, this program is good enough to make me want to start another league just to play with it.

Tweaked it again and added a 'min AB' and 'min IP' field.

Use cation with the AB one, as I aint put in error checking for hitters.

Yes, I will add the ability to remove fields.

As of now, you can drag them around and change the order, but it don't remember the order for next time.

I also want to add the ability to freeze fields, like the way name and points are froze.

Added some error checking to the batters stuff.

Also added the ability to hide columns. Sort by the column you want to hide, then right click on that column and select HIDE. It will go away.

NOTE: It will be there next time you load the program, but at least you can hide fields now.
