from farm club to farm club
What type of rules do you set yourself when moving a player thru the ranks in your farm system.like how to you know a player is ready to move from A to AA and player from AA to AAA. I know when to move a player to the bigs but just not sure when to move a player thru the ranks....do they tend to learn and mature from one minor league team to the next? and how many years do you give aq player until you say "hey this guy just does not have it"

I use a combination of age, current ratings and current or recent performance. I try to make sure that prospects are in AA by age 24 and out of R by age 21. If a guy is tearing up his current level over a couple of hundred PA then I might use that to override low ratings or age. OOTP still has a long way to go in modeling development. I find a lot of prospects who struggle in the minors for a couple of seasons while their ratings improve and then all of a sudden make a big jump to where they are hitting very well in A+ or AA ball and are almost major leagur ready. For some reason, the young phenom who tears up every level of the minors on the way to the majors doesn't seem to happen often in OOTP. All of this is based upon my experience of running standard, modern sims.

Generally, if a player is 40+ at a level, that's the level I put him at |
