cities.txt?
I'm trying to find the file that lists all of the name of cities in the game. Some foreign cities are named different for a variety of reasons and sometimes it can be hard to figure out the proper spelling to put a team in a specific city. When I googled what file this is in, I found some old OOTP manuals that suggest it's in ootp/database/cities.txt, but it looks like this file has been phased out in recent versions. Where is the list of cities stored or where can I access it without re-downloading an old version of the game (assuming I have a version old enough with that file even in it?)?

Cities and countries are now accounted for in the world_default.xml file in the database folder.
They need to update the obsolete content in the game manual. I had hoped that when they updated the manual to include the new material that they would bring the rest of the manual up-to-date, but apparently that was low on the priority list for the available resources. There is a lot of really valuable information in the official manual, there are just a few things that need to be revised. |

Search the forums...there's a good tutorial on how to add your own cities/nations/regions. Just remember to keep a backup outside your OOTP folder...just in case! I added a bunch of small Michigan towns for a personal project.
