Season 52 (2070) Half Way Through

It seems a shame to give up now. It'll take months before my new team is worth chatting about. Meanwhile, the Tigers continue to be hot, hot, hot with an 18-2 start. Clayton Kershaw, I didn't realize, started last week 0-3 and ended 21-3 + plus 3 postseason wins and 4 more for 28 in a row over two seasons. Zack Wheat leads in average and RBI, needs to hit a few more HR to be a triple crown threat.

I'll try again

One of my DiL teams is off to a nice start. This team went 96-66 last year with a 16 game winning streak, but got bounced in a best of 5 series and so is back for a second try. It's currently 21-3 and riding an 11 game win streak.

Whale League 2070!!!

A combined 251 PL titles in this league!!!

With 13 PL titles, the Frogs are just 4th in our own division in that respect.

Wish us luck, because we'll sorely need it.

Any unique strategies this week?

Well we won #3 last week, what a great team this is, I plan on rolling out the 2.0 version in 2021, don't fix what ain't broke! After the red hot Guardians swept the series over team KSKAFUOFNALFHUSHU, they went straight to insanity hot with a 22-2 April. Maybe we can win #4 before the year is up?

No, actually. I'm starting to regret it.

Crazy idea to just plug in my best cards, set the ballpark factors in a rational way based on those cards, and not do any cheesing.

The Tigers have cooled off and currently in a 20 game stretch of .500 ball. They have a 6-game lead over the Green Lake Cowboys who are the 2nd best team in the conference. Surprisingly, I was able to complete a collection for Marv Grissom at a good price, who is supposed to replace Borbon in the pen because he is 5-6 points better in every important rating category except "hold runners". But Borbon is having a good season, so maybe next week.

I wish I could figure out what is wrong with my gold tournament team which was earning 15-25 packs a week plus the odd card (like Zack Wheat). It now averages less than 1 pack per day despite my constant baby-sitting of keeping the team in play. There is no surgeon general's warning against this kind of 3 pack a day habit!

P486: Almost Got That Turk 182 Joke Opportunity!

Baseball, like life, keeps you humble. Case in point: here were the P486 AC Central standings on May 24, 2070...

Huntley Red Raiders 42-7
Los Angeles Bruins 34-13 7 GB

...and JasonC23's thoughts at that time: "I don't want to jinx anything, but man, this season is going so well! This is awesome! Woo-hoo!"

Literally the next 6 games:

Warbirds find themselves in .438.

There is some stiff competition with 45 PL medallions.
Inspired by the FROG's 'max offence' strategy and resulting success...the Warbirds have decided to do the same.

1st in R (not even at record pace)
2nd in RA (close to normal performance)

Home record - .829
Road Record - .757

Cy Young with a no-no.

The Tigers finish the day strongly with a 9 game winning streak to open an 11 game lead over Green Lake. Unfortunately, they open the new day by losing 3 to a team 10 games under .500. Six of the next 12 games before the All-Star break are against Green Lake, so this is the team's chance to really lock up the division early.

The gold team won 2 packs overnight to bring the week total to 5, which is already better than the 4 from last week. I hope to complete some collections this week to make 5 more including 1 diamond pack and that will be the end of collections for this team.

The Tigers rolled into the break on a high note by winning 4 out of 6 from Green Lake and increasing their division lead to 12. The only team in the league doing better is the 23-time champion New Orleans Brees who the Tigers are scheduled to play in an interleague series in August.

Meanwhile, the tournament team scored 6 more packs this afternoon giving me a total of 14 to open later tonight.
